How do you think it's sad he got suspended? He is lucky not to have been fired. NBC has lost it's credibility to report what is supposed to be accurate news and this clown perpetuates a lie for years. What a smack in the face to those real heroes of war.

Never take for face value what is being told to you by someone who is getting paid to tell it to you. The news has been skewing stories to bring in viewers and readers for decades, his story is nothing new.

Meh. I saw it when it originally aired. The story wasn't even about what happened to him. It was more about the friendship he now has with the one soldier who showed up to help protect. Who is highly decorated and because this bullshit, has been lost in the news drama fluff, instead of being recognized himself.

Not true at all. Journalists are supposed to have integrity and a code of ethics. Fabricating a story - lying - violates the code.

He claims to be honest and forthright - he's not, and got caught.

    IMO, he should be fired.

Did you even see or read what he said on said news broadcast? Or are you just going by what other dramatic reports are saying?

I don't care really what happens to the guy. He's got a shit ton of more money than me and I'm no relation. So whatever.

But the guy maybe embellished or mistakenly told a story that he was involved in. Something every human being has done in his lifetime. Kind of like the fisherman telling his big fish catch story, and every time the fish gets bigger.

I'm not saying the guy shouldn't report the truth. But this story had zero effect on anyone except for those involved. He wasn't reporting on some super virus that is killing everyone that gets it, that he made up just for the hell of it.

Cut the guy a break is what I'm saying. He's guilty of being human. Nothing more.

Bullshit! Have you ever heard of "Stolen Valor"? That's what he did...placed himself where he wasn't so he could reap the accolades. Fuck him!

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
The Stolen Valor Act of 2005, signed into law by President George W. Bush on December 20, 2006,[1] was a U.S. law that broadened the provisions of previous U.S. law addressing the unauthorized wear, manufacture, or sale of any military decorations and medals. The law made it a federal misdemeanor to falsely represent oneself as having received any U.S. military decoration or medal.

EDIT: looks like it was updated...still didnt claim to have received any decorations from his "actions".

The Stolen Valor Act of 2013 was signed by President Barack Obama on June 3, 2013.[37] The Act makes it a federal crime to fraudulently claim to be a recipient of certain military decorations or medals in order to obtain money, property, or other tangible benefit.[38]

At the time of his report I did - but, honestly, I do not remember the details.

It is exactly like a fisherman telling his big fish catch story. Which is exactly not how the evening news should be presented.

Stolen Valor. He took accolades that clearly weren't earned by him. He pretended to be a brave "hero" - which he is not. And, he personally benefited from such.

The problem is, citizens of this country are used to and accepting of the media and government lying to them. WHEN DID LYING BECOME OK? Or actually, the norm?????????

Yes, he is one person, only human and made a mistake. Except it wasn't a mistake - it is behavior that follows a pattern. In other words, it was intentional.

it does not qualify as stolen valor as he never portrayed himself to receive military awards or decorations.

He was there, not there.. :)

The way the story is told, plays a large part on how the reality is portrayed. And telling it one way, dishonestly and knowingly is just the same as saying it in the first place.

Well yes, nobody should be fucking in church.. That makes it a double bad. Which is different than a double negative.

This again? Your argument looks ridiculous when Stolen Valor comes up.

The big fish story came up, because people's memories get skewed also. The original report in 2003 when it happened, was reported correctly. If that report was false from the get go, then it would be a reason to tear the guy down.

If you look up the details, it shows exactly what he said.

He said, and I quote. "the helicopter we were traveling in was forced down after being hit by an RPG."
Now, it could be that by "we" he meant part of his crew, or just plain meant with instead of in. I don't know.

The fact of the matter is, he was forced to land. Because the helicopter he was traveling with was hit.

The sad thing is, and I'm repeating myself, is the real story was about the friendship he made with the one soldier. Command Sargent Major Tim Terpak. Who is a decorated soldier that recently retired from the military. A man who deserves to be recognized. But now because of everyone whining about how a news reporter told a story wrong. This man gets lost in the shuffle.

Guess what happens if you Google his name, say if you wanted to see about his military career. Brian Williams comes up, with this bullshit story.

If you don't want to watch or trust the news. Stick with all the info you find on the Internet. We all know it's full of facts.
