For those of you who have bought a brand new Tacoma, how soon after did you end up lifting it? How many miles were on it when you decided to lift it I should say...

wait a year? break it in first? Pros and cons?

The quicker you do it, the less chance bolts are going to be seized up. Did mine after 600 miles.

Nothing yet. Old truck had the works.
I was at about 3k miles. No problems just wished i got it sooner. Had to ship across the pacific ocean. Which is what took so long...

I'm planning on 5100's all the way around, set at 1.75 in the front to level. I have 12k on my TRD Sport now, so I'm planning on doing the front 5100's relatively soon to level it, then waiting a while longer to replace my stock billies in the rear to feel like I got some value out of them before trashing them.

Man I didn't even read your post, I just saw the title and 'fuck no' is the answer.

    EDIT:

After reading your post, in an effort to give you an actual answer:

I installed all of my stuff at 2500 miles. I would've had it lifted earlier but I had to wait until all my parts arrived since I wanted to do the lift, armor, tires and rims all at the same time.

Break-in was 500 miles, then I went in and checked torque. Nothing really rattled loose.

I started with an OME kit, 887 coils on Nitrocharger Sport shocks, Dakars in the back, and total chaos UCA's

    Vision 16x8x4.5 Manx rims

    Hankook 285/75/16 tires

I ended up swapping the OME coilovers out after 2500 miles because I had a rake on my truck I did not enjoy, this was not because OME sucks but because my front bumper was too heavy for the coils, and I'd rather toss martha stewart's salad than put spacers on my truck. I switched to some ICON adjustable coilovers with reservoirs and their "heavy" rated springs... I dialed in an additional inch of lift on them and now I'm sitting level and the truck drives better than it ever did before.

    Cons:

Catching shit from people who wear their pants too tight about "ruining a brand new truck."
All-Pro has some really nice people who work there and they know their shit when it comes to our beloved Tacos... Ryan, Landon, and Tracy were super polite and responsive to my questions... but sometimes their front office doesn't talk so well with the back office, which resulted in a few errors that delayed my armor delivery. I had to really stay on top of my own order, and once I started doing that everything went smoothly.

    Pros:

Pulling the same tight-wads out of the sand on the beach using my "ruined" truck.
YotaDan @ Wheelers Offroad helped me choose all my stuff and provided a ridiculously high level of customer service as well as advice

Some dealerships have Tacoma's sent to an Upfitter to have mod'ed before they even get to their Lot.

I tend to lift mine around the time I need new tires. Truck looks a little funky when its +2-3" in the air with little 30" tire (245 /75R16) car tires.

That's my plan on my 2014 TRD Sport. Want the lift now but don't see the point in buying new tires while mine are still perfectly fine. I have about 38k on the truck right now.

I say get two bigger sized tires and put them in the back. Then you will have a lift.

After 7,000 miles I went ahead and installed Icon stage 3 kit. My thought process is breaking the truck in with the new suspension seems like a better idea than down the road. Reason being, all the drivetrain and suspension components will wear accordingly with the new components. instead of creating different wear patterns in different areas with a different suspension set up after it is worn with the stock suspension. Also, I didn't want to beat the truck up trying to wheel it in stock fashion. The Icon suspension is much more heavy duty. I feel like it helps the truck with off road/daily driving impacts. If you have an oh-shit moment a truck a HD suspension will absorb much more in a more efficient manner than the stock suspension. What is not soaked up by stock suspension will be distributed to the rest of the truck. Real world example: A big pothole in the street is going to be soaked up a lot better by a 2.5" coilover than a 1.5" stock strut (or whatever size they are).

On the flip side, sometimes I act like my Tacoma is a trophy truck. I'm a little bit harder on the truck because I know the suspension can handle a lot more. Have fun and be nice to your truck... I feel sorry for who gets mine in about 10 years.

I lifted mine @ 6000 miles. Would have done it the day I bought it if the wallet allowed me to.

20,000 miles, I waited for tires to start to go to ship before I lifted and put new ones on.

Plus I wanted to have all my engine mods done first.

    A little a this, a little a that...
I waited a year and wheeled it/used it to make sure I knew what I wanted to do first. There are so many options for these trucks, and it took me a while to do all the research. I lifted it at 24k mi.
