With the correct permit yes, but its not AZ specific, if you have a class III weapons permit you can have full auto in Cali too. My point is breaking the full auto rule is a federal crime, not just state specific

Wrong. BATF will not allow a transfer to a state where NFA is illegal.

If you are a Class III dealer, that's a different story; I don't think too many of us are, though.

I think it means you can buy handguns from other States now. Who wants to be the first to try?

I wasn't talking about transfer. And that was my original point, machine guns are not allowed unless you are very special, which none of us are, if you posses one without permit you are breaking federal law AND state law, which is much worse than just breaking state law. I meant AZ specific as in AZ is not the only state you can obtain a permit. Please explain how that is wrong?

So I got online a printed out the TSA and American Airlines (airline I am flying) firearm travel policy. Then I called AA to make sure that I was interpreting their regulations in regard to traveling with firearms.

    AA policy:
    • Firearms are accepted on American and American Eagle operated itineraries only.
    • Firearms and ammunition are accepted as checked baggage only and must be declared to an agent at check-in.
    • Firearms will only be accepted if unloaded and in a locked, hard-sided container such as a rifle case. TSA approved locks are accepted.
    • Ammunition in its original packaging from the manufacturer is preferred, however it will be accepted in fiber, wood or metal boxes, or other packaging specifically designed to carry small amounts of ammunition. Loose ammunition, magazines or clips will not be accepted.
    • Firearms may not be checked curbside.
    • No one under 18 years of age may check a firearm.
    • Pellet and BB guns are not considered firearms, therefore do not require any special handling or documentation.
    • State laws regarding the possession of firearms vary. Please be sure to check your destination state requirements before you travel.
    http://www.aa.com/i18n/travelInformation/baggage/firearms.jsp

    TSA policy:
To avoid issues that could impact your travel and/or result in law enforcement action, here are some guidelines to assist you in packing your firearms and ammunition:

    • All firearms must be declared to the airline during the ticket counter check-in process.
    • The term firearm includes:*Please see, for instance, United States Code, Title 18, Part 1, Chapter 44 for information about firearm definitions.
      • Any weapon (including a starter gun) which will, or is designed to, or may readily be converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive.
      • The frame or receiver of any such weapon.
      • Any firearm muffler or firearm silencer.
      • Any destructive device.
    • The firearm must be unloaded.
      • As defined by 49 CFR 1540.5 - "A loaded firearm means a firearm that has a live round of ammunition, or any component thereof, in the chamber or cylinder or in a magazine inserted in the firearm."
    • The firearm must be in a hard-sided container that is locked. A locked container is defined as one that completely secures the firearm from being accessed. Locked cases that can be pulled open with little effort cannot be brought aboard the aircraft.
    • If firearms are not properly declared or packaged, TSA will provide the checked bag to law enforcement for resolution with the airline. If the issue is resolved, law enforcement will release the bag to TSA so screening may be completed.
    • TSA must resolve all alarms in checked baggage. If a locked container containing a firearm alarms, TSA will contact the airline, who will make a reasonable attempt to contact the owner and advise the passenger to go to the screening location. If contact is not made, the container will not be placed on the aircraft.
    • If a locked container alarms during screening and is not marked as containing a declared firearm, TSA will cut the lock in order to resolve the alarm.
    • Travelers should remain in the area designated by the aircraft operator or TSA representative to take the key back after the container is cleared for transportation.
    • Travelers must securely pack any ammunition in fiber (such as cardboard), wood or metal boxes or other packaging specifically designed to carry small amounts of ammunition.
    • Firearm magazines and ammunition clips, whether loaded or empty, must be securely boxed or included within a hard-sided case containing an unloaded firearm.
    • Small arms ammunition, including ammunition not exceeding .75 caliber for a rifle or pistol and shotgun shells of any gauge, may be carried in the same hard-sided case as the firearm, as long as it follows the packing guidelines described above.
    • TSA prohibits black powder or percussion caps used with black-powder.
    • Rifle scopes are not prohibited in carry-on bags and do not need to be in the hard-sided, locked checked bag.
    http://www.tsa.gov/traveler-information/firearms-and-ammunition

The red is what I had a question on so I called AA.

To start, last month when I traveled, I asked the counter agent what the rules were when traveling with a firearm, as I knew that this month I would be.

    She told me:
The guns had to be in a locked hard case, check.

I could travel with ammo, but it had to be in a seperate bag, in the original packaging or in cases designed to carry ammo. Magazine (Magazine, just not in the gun ???)

I had to declare at the counter that I was traveling with firearms. Check

As you can see from the above that the written regulations contradict what the counter agent told me, so I called AA. The agent on the phone pulled up their regulations and agreed that she interpreted what it says that the ammo CAN be in the same case as the weapons, just not IN the weapon, she then got a supervisor who confirmed that we both interpretted the regulations correctly.

As suggested yesterday, I printed out both regulations and highlighted all parts that affect me and those print outs will be on my person for the duration of the travel periods.

I can't remember what thread this was discussed in but I just thought I would follow up with the discussion from yesterday with what I found, to help anyone else out. I would suggest you call the particular airline you are traveling with on your own just to be clear and familiarize yourself personally.

I misunderstood you meaning AZ is not the only state that allows Class III. You are not wrong on that.

I used to live in AZ and had multiple Class III toys.
