    I used 3600 grit when I did mine. Be careful the chrome is thin and I went too deep in one spot.

    I told you mine is 3.5 or 3.75 something like that. I would've rather had the flat black aFe tip but they don't make it in the size i would need it in anymore. They only have it for diesels, and you know how much i hate diesels

    I painted my whole exhaust system cats and all with flat black BBQ paint, so I don't really need for an exhaust tip.

    Oh yeah I hate diesels with a passion too. Noisy, smoky, smelly...:mad:

    The only way I'd ever have a diesel is if it could be made to purr quietly, burn cleanly and use recycled cooking oil so it smells like hamburgers and French fries. :hungry:

    I used the red color scotch-brite scuff pad. Could use some scotchbrite pad that's a lil more fine

    Sorta joking and sorta not. ;)

    Diesels are far more dependable and versatile as far as what they can burn when compared to gasoline engines, but they are noisy and smelly, sooty too. I suppose the exhaust can be cleaned up with urea and such. Hey diesels are safer too (less flammable fuel)

    Damn...why don't we have diesel Tacomas :mad:

    I wish i had done mine before i installed it. AFE POWER stainless exhausts are not stainless apparently :(


    And i completely agree on diesels :thumbsup:

    Its stainless, but where we live it will surface rust. Stainless steel ain't perfect. Do you remember what rating it was?

    I had a "stainless steel" exhaust on my 2001 Dakota. 10 years later it was rusty as hell. Stainless does rust. I swore when I bought a new truck I would be a lot more proactive when it comes to rust.

    I painted the brake drums on my Tacoma too, especially on the face where the wheel bolts to it. Too many times on my Dakota the aluminum wheels and cast iron/steel drums bonded together with corrosion. I had to really kick the wheels to get them loose.

    My drums are painted, my frame is coated.

    My exhaust isn't even a year old and looks pretty hideous. Its only surface rust but meh.
