fuel mileage

Got the truck in florida, now im in utah, it was getting about 20mpg at sea level. Now at altitude its only getting about 15mph. Problems, solutions..........GO!!!!!!!!

 

The computer will adjust, bringing you to a cozy 17.5

 

Im thinking about possibly driving mine from ma to fl this spring or summer. Howd it do?

 

colder temps, winter blend gas, constant changes in elevation, less HP due to altitude (heavier throttle foot) will hurt MPG. not much you can do beside go back to FL.

 

Lower octane too.

 

15MPG is all I get under normal conditions, but that's what you get when you treat the gas pedal like an on/off switch.

 

It did great on the trip home. Had no problems except the sheet of ice on the interstate outside of dallas. I was wondering if the computer should self adjust or if they are programed. I was getti g 400 miles a tank now barely over 300. Im sure the lack of O2 up here has something to do with it. Any sugestions on getting a lil better mpg would be greatly appriciated.

 

Most likely one big problem is the difference in gas. Every area has different types of winter gas. Also you are in a colder climate and the air is heavier so you will have more drag.

 

Octane has nothing to do with MPG.

 

I'm around 17.3 to 17.5 with my 2014 TRD Offroad 4x4 V6

 

also check your tire pressures, altitude and temperature both affect tire pressure
