I OC'd my girl's OG Droid from 550 to 1100MHz. Made a huge difference in performance.

 

Big time! I have an old HP Tablet that ran webos but now runs Android. Its stock at 1.2ghz and I've bumped it up to 2.5ghz.

Granted I had to put it in the freezer it to keep it cool enough, but it did work and the speed upgrade was amazing!

I've melted a note 2. I mean, fully fucking melted it. The heat syncs on it are really well done, but I OC'd the Memory, CPU, GPU and started playing games. It got so hot I ended up dropping it out of my hands and when it hit the ground it warped a bit. I took it apart and the insides were all melted.

 

Didn't know you could OC the RAM for the phones. The last phone I messed with was my HTC Rezound. OC'd the CPU and GPU, and was still able to UV it. Haven't really felt the need to do so on my One M7/M8.

Some phones can. The note 2 kernel I had allowed me to adjust the voltage and change clock speeds on the RAM. It wasn't too effective on the bench marks, more so a bragging right.

Edit: I'd also like to say I hate fixing people's PC's. Once you fix it for something the owner all the sudden thinks you now are the one to fix every little issue for them. My dad's buddy needed a new work PC and asked me to build him on. So I did, works great, and he's happy. 3 days later "I can't seem to login to my email account? Can you call me and help me?". So now he thinks its my job to help him figure out how to log into yahoo.......

This pretty much happens every time.

 

Yeah I know how that is. A couple weeks ago, my girl told her friend that I was good with computers, and that I could probably help him with his laptop. Next thing I know he had written a list of stuff I needed to check on it.

It was a good reminder of why I stopped using Windows.

Oh, and I ended up buying the 4790K. Just haven't installed it yet.

 

Nice! Are you going to OC the piss out of it? It can bump up to 5ghz!

 

Seems most people are getting 4.7/4.8GHz out of it. 5GHz seems like a lot for a Haswell chip.

 

This is why my dad and I said my grandma would not be allowed to get a pc. I would be constantly getting phone calls or having to go over there. This was over 10 years ago. She is now almost 95. Other than missing out on seeing grand and great grand children on facebook. Other than that, she is happy without it.
