    Those snorkel heads are ugly as hell. I think you just have to have the right truck to match. And no I don't mean your truck is ugly but that it's a dark color and has a vast assortment of other big and lavish accessories so it just blends in. Kinda like if you put your bumper on a stock 5 lug Tacoma. You would say "damn that's ugly" but on your truck it looks good.

    So are you gonna try and produce some test results from it?

    yea, it's not the best looking options, but the benefits are nice... less to worry about during the winter and while traversing the UT backcountry...

    not really sure what test results i'd be able to pull from it...i constantly monitor my MPGs, so i'll be keeping an eye on the new setup to see how it compares, donaldson vs airflow vs enginaire...

    i will be taking the truck to the dyno in the next couple months, so i could do a comparison on one of the runs, airflow vs enginaire and see if it robs any performance...

    Yeah that's really all I mean. I'd say mpg and dyno numbers are all you could test. Just curious if that's what you switched for or some other reason. You may have said already but I didn't catch it

    Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
    That would be a bad test since the hood helps to force air in so if you are looking for data you will need some way to force air into the snorkel.

    Technically the new one should help too, with the "vortex" ability to help laminate airflow

    the change came from a snow mishap driving to cruise moab a couple years ago...snow clogged up the back of the snorkel hat which meant a bunch made it into the intake...soaked my air filter and MAF which left me on the side of the road basically air drying my filter and MAF before i could continue on...

    after that i had two week long trips in the moab area...one with the airflow hat and the second with the pre cleaner...i had to clean my filter mid trip and again when i got home with the airflow hat...with the precleaner i only checked it when i got home and it was significantly cleaner, barely had to clean it out...

    so i found from that experiment that the pre cleaner was a great investment for desert trips...and why i got a replacement after my last one involuntarily found a new home...

    I agree. But that is also one of the reasons dyno runs use huge fans.

    Yes but they are generally pretty low, take into account the height of the vehicle and the snorkel being right there at nearly 7 feet up and that fan isn't doing much for forcing air into the intake.

    well also intakes are usually down that low, im sure they will figure something out. Cause standing air isnt going to help a dyno run at all either. Although it would show how much more of a restriction the new one could be.

    Im interested in seeing the dyno runs

    Most dynos I've been around use fans that create 200+ mph winds. I think that little fan might implode if it hit those speeds. Lol
