Tinkering on the idea of spacers. I haven't use them before on any vehicle, so share your experiences, recommendations and best of all a pic of your OEM wheel with spacers. I am considering it just for looks coz' the stock wheels seem too close to each other looking from the front. I also hear tire shops not recommending spacers and Discount Tire wont even touch it.

I wouldn't mess with them unless you needed them for aftermarket rim spacing.

The problem I experienced with Spacers on a truck I had before my Tacoma: You must install them properly, torque them to spec, and check/re-torque them every time you rotate your tires.

People want to slap them on and not maintain them, and that's where the big trouble starts.

All of that having been said: I still wouldn't bother with them.

I used 1.25" bora spacers with my oem wheels and no issues for 10k miles. They added a nice stance compared to stock. Only took them off cause I went with aftermarket wheels. Discount tire had no problem with my spacers being on the truck.

Didn't think spacers with aftermarket wheels makes sense. Wheel width and backspacing should offset the need for spacers.

I only put spacers on after/while I did my lift. Makes the stance of the truck a lot better in my opinion. I got the spidertrax 1.25.

If you get spacers, just make sure you buy well-made, hub-centric spacers. That is key. Spidertraxx seems to be the popular choice around here (myself included).

I have stock TRD rims on 1.25 inch spacers. Mainly for clearance. I only put them in the front and they have been great since install.

I have 1.25 wheel spacer. Give the stock tire a bit outward. Look so much better. Just retorque them after a hundred mile or so on your first install. Then check them everytime you rotate your wheels. Here is mine with 285/75/16.. Couldnt find any of the pic with a 265.

You are correct. Tire store wont touch them for "insurance" crap. But really depend on the tech. My local firestone guys turn a blind eye while changing my tires and they even retorque the spacer lol

Wow, now that brings things into perspective, Nice. Did you have rubbing in the front mudflaps with the 285's?

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
1 inch Bora spacers. Used medium (non-permanent) Loctite when installed about 30k miles ago. Never had them come loose unintentionally. Still easy to take off when I needed to for other work.
