BTW I haven't figured out where to put the key chip after I took it apart. It doesn't work in the key fob. I tried gluing it to the key and no worky most times. I think I blew it on trying to slim down my key. Oh well trial and error. Apparently mostly error on this thread.

Here's a pic of the other side. It's located in the white plastic. It's weird that me taping it or plasti dipping it to the key doesn't work. I'm stumped.

I did that mod too. I hate that the cable binds against the strut though...

I actually bent the silver metal bracket to conform more closer along the tailgate side to give the strut a little more clearance from the cable. Helped a little...not alot...:(

I bent that bracket with a rubber mallet. Great minds think alike.
I hope the kink doesn't shorten the life of the cable.

I ordered one too. Thanks for the info. But does the strut hold up the tailgate any? Maybe enough to take out the cable?

I don't think the strut will support the weight without damaging itself. I sit on and work on (like a work bench) the tailgate often. I would keep the cable attached.

if there's an actual kink or crease in the cale it will shorten the life of it. can't imagine the cable is too expensive anyways. nice little mod there. man you're getting all kinds of work done this week! well so am I cause I wasn't gonna mount my rims for a couple more weeks. But when I saw you on saurday and you asked me I couldn't stop thinkin about wanting to do it already! I have Mike coming over to help me do a CMC on friday and hopefully my bushwackers come in by then too!

Negative!! That strut would snap apart with any substantial weight on it. Those cables can't be that expensive anyways, and should last for awhile as long as your not opening and closing the tailgate multiple times a day...

So I also got these installed yesterday.

I switched out my old one for a BirdDawg Industries ClearView RearView for the option of a Ram ball mount. I have no idea what I'm gonna put up there yet.

If you need a sturdy mount that doesn't vibrate like the rest then look no further. A BirdDawg Industries Tech Deck is what you want. I got the X-treme version. This thing is stout and f-ing rock solid. I'm gonna run my iPhone and iPad on there. I haven't tested it with the iPad yet but its bolted in 8 places and I tried to physically shake it and rip it out. Its not going anywhere.

The suction cup mount for my Ultragauge kept sliding down my windshield. I finally threw that out and built a mount made of a Ram motorcycle ball mount, a spacer, and a long bolt. Much much better.

Apparently the batteries in 2013 models are crappy out. So I got one of these units. I don't need another car or jumper cables and it charges my phone.
