thats not bad, the tacoma is closer to 2800 at that speed. thanks for the feed back

 

My 4cyl 5spd with 4:30's does about 3000rpm @70 according to my calibrated ultra gauge.

 

Only way Toyota could get that rig to do 70 was to gear it low, though.
My old 1996 Hardbody 4cyl 5 speed had 4:625's. On the highway 75 was as fast as you wanted to go or else the gerbil's heart would explode.

Honestly it gets better mileage at 3k plus. Below that there's just no power/tq. It's much happier running along at 3k than 2500 that's for sure. But ya, I can't imagine how the 4cyl with 4:10 gears are in hills/passing

 

Just had a nice father daughter dinner with my oldest. I called her and surprised her with a dinner offer.

Mine will accelerate pretty well from 1,000 in pretty much any gear. Not trying to lug it, but it does pretty well in the low RPM range.

Haven't had it over 3,000 except when I missed a gear leaving the dealership.

 

I went out with an 8 lb sledge and knocked down a MASSIVE chunk of ice hanging off the back of the house. Didn't get it all, but what I knocked down must have weighed 150lbs

 

I am done for tonight. I will be at it again tomorrow.

 

Well that was a fun ride home from work . 13 cars off the road . 93 is a sheet of ice . Lucky me I have to work all weekend.

 

You guys get snow up there? Roads were fine down here.

 

Yeah just a inch or two. The ice started around exit 3 in nh . Crawled to exit 9 doing 15 mph .

 

Alex running the truck out is fine. So long as you don't over rev it you can sit just under red line all day everyday. Despite how it sounds there are no I'll effects from running up the rpms. The concern is when you over rev which can cause valve float and the pistons to contact the valves.

 

It's actually better for the engine/clutch than lugging it
