Just picked up the trailer for the trip tomorrow... and the 2500 Chevy will be pulling it into the dealership in Denver. Could be an epic sight haha

Any of you guys have experience with pizza cutter tires? Like 33x10.5?

I'm thinking of getting a set.

    I've been looking at these
    http://roadtraveler.net/my-favorite-lt25585r16/

Probably won't get the KM2's because I've heard they're not that great for winter conditions. I'm looking for an all around MT with a decent lifespan.

No personal experience but I hear a lot of good things about this size of tire. I plan to get a set of 255/80/17 Cooper ST Maxx this spring

I like the 255/85r16 for winter driving. I have the KM2 and it is a better snow tire then the 285/75r16 bfg all terrain it replaced. The width of the tire seems to make up for the weakness of the tread pattern. It slices through snow piles or deeper water on the roads making the vehicle feel very sure-footed.

My next set will be a set of Maxis Bighorns, they seem to have the best prices going right now. The 2 ply sidewall worries me a little, we will see how that plays out this summer. BFG is no longer making the 255/85r16 from what I have read on the internets.

The 4runners next set of tires will be the new BFG at 34x10.5r17.

I had read that BFG had to add an ECE denotion for europe and that's why they stopped making them for a bit. Sounds like they're supposed to start back up in March

I had a set of maxxis bighorn mt's on my 2nd gen and I liked them a lot. They off road great, they are loud on the street though. I would recommend getting them siped for winter driving. They are great in the snow and anything really deep, Ice from a stop in 2wd was a little issue. Had 30k on them before I sold the truck and they still had some life left in them.

I asked BFG the same question via email a few days ago. Here was their response regarding the future of the 255/85R16 KM2:

"We appreciate your interest in the Mud-Terrain KM2, Tim. Unfortunately, all fitments of the KM2 in the size LT255/85R16 have been discontinued. At this time, we do not have plans to re-release this size. We apologize for any inconvenience.

We appreciate your business and thank you for choosing BFGoodrich."

That's weird... Here is the post I was referring to from the "255/85/16" Thread

"I recently contacted BFGoodrich, because these are the tires I want to put on my truck. Here's the conversation:"

    Me:
    Quote:
I just came across this message that states the KM2 255/85R16 is not necessarily being discontinued. Instead, BF Goodrich is making changes to the tire and that the tire should be available again sometime in July/August. Can you please confirm?

    http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...970-post2.html

    Thank you

    BFGoodrich:
    Quote:
    Mike,

The LT255/85R16 KM2 does have a projected launch date of March 2015 which is subject to change in either direction. Our suggestion is that you contact an authorized dealer to see about pre ordering because stock will be filled in the way the orders are placed (stock may be limited and orders may have already been placed).

    Sincerely,

    Me:
    Quote:
Thank you very much for the information. Can you confirm if these tires are exactly the same as the version that was just discontinued? Or were changes made? What was the reasoning for the stop in production? The reason I want to know is that I found a set of tires that I want to buy. But if there are differences with this new tire coming out in March 2015, then I may hold off and buy the new one.

    Thank you again.

    BFGoodrich:
    Quote:
    Mike,

The reason for the stop in production is so our plants could start including the European stamp of approval on the sidewall of the tires. That stamp simply makes the tires legal to use in the United States as well as Europe. This will be the only difference between the two KM2's as they will be made and look the same (plus the ECE symbol).
    Sincerely,

    Jon

That's weird to see two different messages being publicized. I guess we'll have to wait til March to see if they release the new version. In the mean time I picked up a spare 255/85 as they are getting very difficult to find...

Maybe I should have held on to my 255/85/16 KM2s a little bit before selling them. :notsure: Loved the size, wasn't too impressed with the tire. Went to 295/75/16 Hankook RT03s. Much better tire IMO, (quieter, much better handling, just as good off-road, exponentially better in the snow) but I did loose some power with the size, and it has me wanting to regear much more than when I had the skinnies.

I'm with Brian on this one though, I'd hold out for the 34x10.50. I had decent luck with a set of TA KOs I had and the KO2s look better. Should be a cool size.

Well I made it to the dealership in Denver. First impression is not good so far. No loaner vehicle, and no assistance for a rental at this point so I am stuck here for the weekend. On a positive not the tech went for a drive with me and 30 seconds into the drive confirmed "yeah this thing is running like shit, definitely a drivability issue". However told me he did not think my supercharger had anything to do with it so idk what to expect. They told me they will try hard to look at it today, will have 0% chance to work on it tomorrow and of course closed Sunday. He said Monday they may have time to look at it. I have to be back home 3.5 hours away by Sunday afternoon! Hopefully I can get them to help me with a rental. Sigh.

Hopefully they can get it fixed at least. Rental would be nice. I make sure my insurances has rentals in my policy, for when my vehicles are down.
