I think your talking about the one we just picked up Monday morning... we got the price down quite a bit though. Luckily the cap is in great shape all the way around. It will be going to paint Monday for some coats of pyrite mica:D

I noticed it was off craigslist. Figured someone picked it up. post pics when it's finished! I'm bummed the silver xtr was trashed. I didn't want to deal with the extra cost of paint. Plenty happy with my ARE though. Put my Titan rod vault on tonight so it's ready to hit the river.

Have either of you looked at PrInSu Design Studio Roof Racks? TW guy based out of UT. They seem awesome. It is what I have been considering for mine since it makes the entire rack even over the topper 100% flat.

Yeah definitely! We would have preferred to pass on the paint too but finding one in pyrite mica was proving to be all but impossible (naturally, now that we bought one and are having it painted one is gunna pop up for sale in our color....)
We like the xtr but that was just the luck of the draw. Originally we were looking at one like you have and buying new so it would be color matched but this is still cheaper. I love having a camper shell again, it makes for the perfect sportsmobile and oversized dog kennel so they don't mess up the interior anymore.

Do you mind saying what the cost of repainting it is going to be? I've looked at a couple CL toppers that I would need to have painted, but my local body shops won't even give me a quote to paint one. They just say it'll be too expensive and I should buy new, and that they aren't interested. But I've seen a few $2K toppers that could be had for $500 in great condition. Gotta think I could come out ahead.

Well, if we can get organized enough to get 5 racks ordered we may be able to get free shipping. That's pretty much a group buy in my book! :D If you are interested PM me and I'll see if I can organize it.

I need to get my wife to buy in on getting one for her FJ then I would be in for 2.

There is a local paint shop up here in Loveland that quoted me $300-350 to paint one. I ended up getting a new ARE from Suburban Toppers for right at $1000 and it came with all the features I was wanting. At the time it didn't seem it was worth it to me to have one painted because the ARE's were all I was finding. However, if you can get one of the higher end toppers for $500 then it is totally worth it to have it painted. If you find a topper let me know, i'll get you the number to the paint place here in town.

What features did you get? All I want is a basic ARE CX with carpet, roof rack rails and sliding windows. I paid $1650 last time I bought one of those new but it sounds like Suburban Topper may be significantly cheaper.
