Ah, gotcha on the floor liners. But what's the point of not having 4wd even if you never use it? If for some reason you ever needed it, (weather conditions etc) wouldn't you regret not having 4x4 while waiting to be towed?

This^ and come trade in time it will be more desirable. Learned this when I went to trade my peerunner in on a 4wd here in the NE after being stationed in AZ. Dealer kept giving me shit because no one buys 2wd trucks in the NE (even if they rarely use them).

Yeah, and as a PreRunner I understand the argument: Commuter, don't need the cost or maintenance, price, MPG, etc... But as frugal and "do without" as I am I want a 4x4 just in case. And there is resale but most people want to keep the truck nearly forever.

Precisely. I want the height, and I know that configuration will easily last me 10 years or more. i may also be part of the demographic that the 4WD community despises - I want a tall car that has occasional utility. I'm a DIY'er, fisherman, and tired of not being able to see around all the trucks I share the road with. Height! I need height!

I also think the Tacoma is a gorgeous vehicle, period. Hannibal Lecter taught me in "Silence of the Lambs" that we covet what we see every day, and I love the Tacomas I see running around. Everywhere. I loved the 2015 I test drove, and I'm certain I'll love the 2016 when it comes in.

Worse gas mileage, some of us don't live anywhere near snow.

I completely understand where you're coming from, imagine the flak I got when lifting a 2wd 3 inches. I wanted the height for multiple reasons. There is nothing wrong with not using 4wd, I would just rather have it if I needed it. I'm not trying to change your mind, just asking.
I don't live near snow either. Rain gets me. I've gotten stuck in a plain front yard because it was wet. It doesnt feel very nice to have someone pull your lifted Tacoma out of some grass.
No sir the Tacoma is my only vehicle. Why do you ask?

Hmm not sure how you would get any pickup stuck in a front yard even if it was raining for a month lol.

2wd are insanely easy to get stuck, but a 2wd + locker is actually a very good backup. That being said, 4wd is always very handy when you need it most.

When I lived in Spokane, a bunch of my friends and I hatched a plan. We were going to buy up a bunch of late model used 4X4s in Texas, ship them up to the Pacific Northwest, and sell them at a huge mark up that would still be cheaper than what those same trucks, jeeps, and subarus were going for otherwise.

Then our wives all said no.

Haha. I know people who do this :)

I am from Iowa.. So there are a few people who make trips out west and down south to bring back vehicles for sale.

Then there are Mexicans who come buy the old yota's and bicycles and hook them together with a tow bar headed for Mexico.

I've seen that heading south on I-35. They get busted a lot around San Antonio for unsafe towing.

Dude, sounds like the subdivision garage sales we do here in Denver. I see trucks overflowing with bikes and other crap that will be at the flea market in the next week for 3x what they paid for it. Cracks me up.

Haha or around any military post.. Dude collect furniture and grills from apartment trash and sell it on CL..

One time I saw a nice grill by the dumpster, some other guy saw it too.. I was going to grab it and thought I would be nice and let him take it..

I'll be damned it was on craigslist the next day for like 200 bucks. MOFO...

Lol thanks for the backup. Anywhere the yard is uneven you can lose traction. In my instance I was parked on a grass driveway between two colverts. Back wheel lost traction and i was screwed. A locker would be tremendous yes but the only thing worth getting is a selectable (everything else will not make for a nice commuter truck) which is a 1000 plus install.

I parked in a steep ditch with thick but mowed grass years ago when at a party. In 4wd with 35 inch procomp extreme mud tires on my 89. the truck would not drive out until I chewed through the slippery ass grass.

Moss, and grass are slicker than shit when wet. Or can be.

You tell 'em, Cap! Why is it that 4X4 guys seem to take offense when someone drives something other than what they drive?
