2013 here too...ill agree to that if its related to what tacomamike says above. Mine had a high pitch noise coming from the windshield when i hit 45 and up ( i think its actually gone away now or ive gotten used to it). A few months ago the car wash blew the weatherstripping right off from above the passengers side door, had to re adhere it. Speakers seem to rattle too, but that could be because its not great in general. I can live with that since it has otherwise been a great truck.

Unless Consumer Reports has turned over a new leaf, they are just another hack magazine. Their test reporting protocol is biased towards brands and products conforming to a preconceived criteria of unscientific opinion rather than objective testing procedures. I'd rather subscribe to Field and Stream and Sports Illustrated. At least with them, I'd get pretty pictures and objectivity.

CR can at most be used as a supplemental guide but as the bible for car reliability, nah.

Gotta remember, CR relies on owners to supply them their data. That alone creates issues.

They just don't like Tacoma's. Even though Taco's have a better reliability rating than many other trucks, an abnormal resale value, and a high would you buy again rating, they pan them for trucks with more black (bad) dots. In the past, a high reliability rating always solidified a good used vehicle rating. I've lost faith in Consumers over the years as a few of their top reccommended products I bought haven't held up for squat. For example, I bought a washing machine on their reccomend that was a piece of crap from the get go. I should have researched it better, because after the fact, I looked at several sites that said do NOT buy this machine. There are a lot of sites now availiable to get ratings on just about any product out there. Consumers 'experts' arent the last word anymore.
    Let the fanboy comments begin.........

Hate to admit it, but I subscribe to CR. Have quit them 3 times. Basically, I just ignore ALL of their vehicle reports. They seem to hate trucks in particular. They are ok on most things EXCEPT vehicles, and I believe their reliability stats are questionable.

Consumer reports would be better if they had a fleet of vehicles that people drove for thousands of miles to get how reliable they are. And then average it out with owner reports.

I'm pretty sure they are saying the 05 is a "trouble spot", because the year is highlighted in red at the top. But then they give the 05 the highest rating of all the other years for the "used car verdict"?

3 inch lift with Toytec Boss and All Pro UCA's up front. AP expedition leafs with Bilstien 5100 shocks in the back. 255/85/16 Cooper S/T Max tires. All Pro skids, rear bumper and sliders, Hidden winch mount with XRC 8000 winch. Dual Optima batteries with IBS combiner/isolator and solar. CMC. Auto sliding rear window mod, hidden CB, CVJ axles and plenty of other little mods.
We should never forget that, quite a few years ago, Consumer Reports rated the Isuzu Rodeo as awful and the Honda Passport as one of the best vehicles on the market. Passports were rebadged Rodeos. I think I'd rather get my info from automotive magazines.
