i just got my scangauge and couldnt be happier with it. on a trip that i typically get about 18mpg, i ended up getting 19.5 today! All i can say is AWESOME! its gonna pay for itself in no time at all, and feeds me the info i crave. I've also found that the intake air temp feature has nullified my desire for a mirror with the thermometer built in, so it's actually paid for itself in that respect too.

I've had my 2007 Taco for about 4 and a half months. Winter blend sucks but you'll have this in winter. Getting about 15 to 19 city driving but also doesn't throw into account of me responding to fire/ems/rescue calls ,going to work . But I love my Taco a whole lot. White w/ black pin stripes. Double cab short bed TRD 2007 had really low miles on it when I bought it. Installed a mobile scanner, Low Band Mobile Radio and as well as Amateur Ham Radio (2 meter Icom IC-V8000) Looks like a mobile antenna farm.:D

Well I dont know how some of you guys get or claim to get the mileage you do however I get about 20 mpg 87 octane 10% ethanol blend (garbage) with my foot in it A/c on and some beach driving and mostly stop and go short distance driving . I was getting 22mpg until the local stations switched to ethanol blend about two weeks ago 4/08 .The truck gets about 24 or 25 mpg on the highway at 75 + but its not often I travel long distance so 20 mpg is pretty well it for me . I am good with that the last truck I had was a 1993 2wd toyota pick up 2.4 and it usually got 25 mpg in the city . So I lost 5 mpg the new truck is well worth it its so much bigger and smoother I love my new taco !

majority is hwy actually, since the first 100 miles were highway driving it home from the dealer.

My first tank I got 18mpg. Second tank 20 mpg. The highest I got was 23 mpg. Been averaging 21-22 the last few tanks. I drive slow. 65 mph on the fwy if it's wide open. In lite traffic I keep it at 55 mph on the slow lane. I try to draft the semi's but they catch on quick over here in so cal and the slow down alot. I do see alot of people trying to go slower on the fwy now a days since prices are at or near $4/gal. I get about 377 - 390 miles on the tank full with AC on. I usually top off around 17.8-18.5 gallons when I fill up. I've only gotten over 400 miles once. I went 422 before the light came on.(23 mpg, technically 29.9mpg).

The SGII is a great tool. I have a couple of them, one in my Taco and the other in my Prius......despite the fact that the Prius has a lot of goodies that the SG offers, it doesn't have a tach or engine temp gauge, both very helpful to maximize mileage in that incredible car. Regarding the intake air temp, I assume you realize that to not be the actual outside air temp, is generally several degrees higher. It does give at least a general idea of temps, however, but I notice that it reads proportionately higher on warmer/sunny days, i.e., it might be 60 degrees and sunny outside, but the SG will show it closer to 75-80 under such conditions. So you might still want to consider that thermometer at some future point if the current weather forecast is of significant interest to you. :)

During initial break-in I was disappointed with 17/22. After a few thousand miles I'm getting 19-20 in town and 25-26 highway.

That being said, it's not unusual to get 17/20 or so if my foot is on the firewall too much:) L4, 4x4, access cab

These trucks are capable of good mileage if driven right.

Just installed a Dynomax super turbo muffler #17731.

What I'm finding out is that I'm using the muffler as a Scangauge of sorts. Mild exceleration up to where it starts to make the growl and use the throttle to dictate shift points with the auto. That make any sense? Anyway all in town driving last tank was 17.8 mpg. and I must admit the kid did come out in me a few times on that tank, as in hard acceleration.

I wouldn't be suprised if 19+ is possible around town with this method and a light foot.

Well I tried to take it easy and ran a gear or two higher under no load situations (ie. downhills where no engine braking needed or going into speed zone). Filled up this a.m. (ouch) but pulled 20 mpg over last 2 weeks. Usually avg around 19 this time of year. No hwy trips, just commuting, small jobs around countryside. I'm sure almost no stop and go really helps, but still a good number for a 4x4 Dcab 6spd rated at 15/18.

yeah, i know the air temp's off on sunny days(bakes the fender where it draws the air from), or if the trucks been just stopped idling. the winter is actually when im interested most, to keep track of the temp on the highway when its close to freezing. i get alot of ice on one section of my drive, so it helps me get an idea if it's gonna get nasty ahead, or if i just need to keep my eye out.

In my neck-of-the-woods it's below freezing pretty much the entire time from Dec. 1 through March 15, so I don't need to worry too much about it, just assume that the roads will be icy. :p

    Hi All,

We're finaly back to sumer blend in NH. Last full-up, 18.1mpg on my V6, just commuting to work in NH. Some 50 mph stretch, but no faster.

I'm still hoping to do the NH - Tenn - Okie - Tenn - NH roadtrip in late Sept. I'll need to see what gas is like though [yikes!] I'm assuming I'll ~~ 20mpg, but will budget for 18.

Of course the year I buy a truck, is the year gas goes through the roof! lol

Check your local pumps. Counties south of Lake Winnespeake have 10%ethanol/90% gas madatory, but north of there most still run 100% gasoline. My folks are only 20 mi from you in Carrol Co. Look at the sticker on the pump, if it says 10% ethanol, your losing 1 mpg right off the bat and you paid the same amount. Find the right station, you'll go futher on a tank.

Here's the map. In red is E10 gas madatory.

    Hey Demoncleaner,

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep an eye out for the sticker. Around here we have a choice of Mobil gas, or assorted lesser brands, Irving, etc. I generally go with Mobil when I can, just because it seems consistently better overall. I think they boost the Ethanol to 15% in the winter here anyway.

    Cya,

    Ken
