When you say 'good' foods, which did you try? Timberwolf has different flavors that really good and dogs love them. Some foods, like the ones at the vet, are good for the dog but taste like crap. Both Timberwolf and Orijen are tastey kibble. (As in the dogs love them lol, not me)

Doggiefood.com is where I get my stuff from. There wharehouse is located in RI so it is local. They seem to have good prices.

If your dog is a part of your family like mine is, please check into what you are feeding them. I look at my dog as one of my children, she is always with us and loves being part of our pack. I feed my son nutrious food so I made the choice to do the same for the dog. Plus, like I said you WILL use less as the dog will not need as much to remain full as more food is digested by the dog which leads to less poop in my yard. That alone is a plus.

I always feel better getting the word out. Too many people (none here on this board I am speaking of) just have a dog to say they have a dog. They don't treat them like family. Who knows, it might just extend the life of your dog.

I agree that most foods are not good for dogs. But there are foods out there that are. You say chicken, meat etc., that is part of the natural diet of dogs. Actually, the best is when it is in meal form as it is more easily digested. Alot of foods have corn or some other filler as it's main ingredient. Have you ever seen a wolf eat an ear of corn?

All I am saying is stay educated about what we feed our dogs and cats. They deserve every chance that we do.

I hear ya on the budget. FWIW Innova is a great food but is a tough sell on the dogs taste buds. Mine did not like it either. Timberwolf and now orijen she devours it up. Also, FWIW i went through 2 15# bags of Purina One to my 1 15# bag of Orijen. I bet half that Purina ended up on my lawn. So for me, it balanced out. But, like I said if it works for you and you feel good about it, go with it. FWIW (one more time lol) my vet didn't even know about timberwolf organics or Orijen when I made thw switch. It wasn't until it got dog food of year that they caught on. Good feeling staying one step ahead of the vet.

LOL, I am not trying to get anyone to shell out more cash. I bet you won't notice the cash difference as you will buy less food. Just the inital shock of the first bag lol.

Perhaps that food is not as good as you were led to think by your vet. There is only 1 meat product in there followed by grains. Compare that to the orijen and timberwolf and you will see a huge difference. To me, that food is a good 'cheap' brand. No better than Iams IMHO.

Like I said, if it works for the dog and yourself. Roll with it.

Also, everyone should remeber not just to fill the bowl with the new food. Slowly introduce the food to the dog and ween the old food away. #1 reason why some dogs don't like food. If it is just put in front of them and they are like 'what the eff is this?'

Perhaps your dog was allergic to that kind of food? Definately happens.

I read the ingredients, "Water, Pork......"

Im guessing this may be OK. As Tigerfan knows about my Dog, Molly, the vets out here have said the most important thing is that she eats. Given her health, thats kinda what we have been focusing on.

Wow I thought I wa the only one "into" my dogs diet. I used to feed INNOVA but actually strted feeding whole foods instead. I cook once a week, a carb source, protein source, and veggie. I know it's a little extreme and many people tell me I'm going overboard but I like the fact that my dogs food isn't processed, their poo doesn't smell horribly, I have complete control and view of quality, and most importantly, they love their food. I visit a vet whose into Hollistic health, and this Is the diet she recommends as well.
