Piston Return Springs?

I have heard that these go bad on the Tacoma frequently. Typical failure tends to be common after the 100K mark supposedly. Can someone help me identify what these look like and where they are located?!

 

Mostly a first gen issue I wouldn't worry too much

 

I heard it may be a problem on the older first gens, it is located down by the clutch pedal persay...

Are you guys sure? I'm noticing a small decrease in power. Normal diagnosing concludes all parts are in good working order. The only thing I can think of is weakened piston return springs causing a lack of more then ideal compression under operational situations.

 

You probably need to check your blinker fluid, either that or you've got a bad muffler bearing

 

Add some diesel fuel to the gas.

 

Does that really work?? I thought it was bad to mix your gas with diesel fuel.

Au contraire my friend. Ever heard of forged internals? If they are bad this would be my chance to go forged piston return springs as well!

I saw this one a while ago from my understanding, the general consensus was yes its safe to do so

 

I figure this whole thread is a troll..

but in case it's isn't.. don't add diesel to your gas for f@ck sakes.


Also, back to the topic at hand, if I understand this right you think that the pistons use springs in some way? Like, the pistons in the engine?

If so, time to start Google-ing "How a gas engine works".

 

my pistons have springs wrapped around them in the front, but in the back its solo pistons.

Also I saw on the interweb that diesel goes in the gas tank on a dodge 2500? WTF?

 

Do the pistons not have return springs in them? This entire time I had been led to believe that engines have them to help spring the piston back up as the engines running. :?

 

Look at this advanced model w/ multiple piston springs.....

It attachs to the bottom of the piston for an extra .0000001 hp and .000005 mpg

 

Are those light tension or standard duty springs?

 

For enhanced effect you'll want to install porcupine seats covers with the piston return springs.

 

We should all try and do a group buy on the return springs so we can get a discount
