Does this look retarded?

My Dad has some super heavy duty black canvas. I was thinking about making a cheap tonneau cover, then I had an idea, if I had some metal bars, I could put the cover at a slant, have lights on the top like a old school roll bar. I could plat the front of it so it wouldn't catch the air. Does it look retarded or should I try it out?

Yeah I'll agree with humanoid on this one, that it looks retarded. But I think that if you made it look real professional and not cheap looking, you may be able to pull it off and make it look real cool.

It's hard to tell from the photo shop image if it looks cool or not, I think you may have to make it first before you can tell.

 

In my experience if you have to ask it probably is.

I think if you can get a good frame under it then it will look good pulled tight.

 

u cant stare at the cover itself in that picture cause its paint. if u look into the trees and look through your peripherals it looks pretty sick.

At first glance (before reading it was canvas) I thought it might be for Tony Hawk. I don't know, I'm not a fan of the sloped shape. It might be more appealing if it was squared off to look like a regular truck cap (and still canvas) but it's your truck and you have to be happy with it. Maybe we just need more convincing.

 

Looks like an aero truck tent or a soft top camper that the back support fell off of but retarded? Nah. If it's of use to you somehow then WTF, do it. My question & concern would be no view out the back window. Rendering the rear view mirror useless wouldn't be worth it long term IMO. But to get somewhere with somethin back there without gettin it wet would be useful. I 2nd the above comment to use it to make a full soft top camper.
