Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, pardon the spelling errors, I'm on my phone, I've already forgotten once today to post, got an urgent call from my local dealership, and a card in the mail, the recall on the newer trucks for corrosion/ rust on the frames now effects older models as well. Team Toyota informed me that they where notified to start calling all tacoma owners immediately for the frame, it has to be inspected and a) sprayed or b) entire frame replaced.

So I'm losing my truck for two days, worst case 2 months

Any one else hear about this yet??

About a month ago I received a call from my local deal and was told that I had to get my 2007 Prerunner in pronto. I asked what the problem was and was told it was for the frame rust inspection. So I made an appointment for the next week. Upon arriving at the dealer I was greeted with a set of keys to a 2014 Corolla. My truck was going to be looked at and a determination made about what to do about it. I had cleaned out the truck before leaving home fearing that it would be commandeered and never to be returned. I received a call the next day stating that the frame had rust perforations and that it would be replaced. Fearing that my truck would be tied up for months, I stated that I use my truck daily and a Corolla wouldn't cut it. I was told that my truck was safe to drive and that a new frame was being ordered that day. The service manager stated that the last frame they ordered took over 100 days to arrive so I shouldn't hold my breath waiting. Also that there were 18 vehicles before me waiting for frame replacements and that the replacement would take only 2 or 3 days once it arrived. So now I'm waiting patiently for a call. Just got a letter about the leaf springs. Why not just give me a new truck?

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
Just got the leaf spring letter the other day too. I need to crawl under and take a look since I did hear a clunk last week while taking a turn. Dealer did the spiral cable replacement yesterday without issue. I never had the light come on or doing anything strange but it's replaced regardless. They would have done the leaf springs but no parts yet which isn't a surprise.
Anyone know what the ride might be like with near leaf springs ?

Recd my spring recall notice last week.
It was just a notice & they are not ready to preform any work on springs yet. The dealer did not know if rebuild or replacement would be course of action.
Also recd recall for gas pedal, seat belts & frame.
After inspection new frame on order.
Did not let them cut my pedal, seat belts were ok
    Truck is '07 with 50k & garaged.

Whelp took mine in to due the inspection. Turns out the leaf snapped in half right behind the wheel. Since the recall is in the early stages and I'm the first to go to my local dealership with the recall. They are waiting on a call from the corporate office to see the next step. So the set me up with a rental for free.

I recd the Spring notice letter only.
I live in pa,& I was told by dealer that they r not ready to do spring inspection or work yet. Mine is going in for frame in about 3 weeks ( per dealer).
Should i wait,& have all done together?
Does anyone know what spring set (3 or 4 springs), r being put on?
My springs suck. I can not put 1 4-wheeler in bed without bottoming out.
    I have a '07 with 50k & always garaged.

Ditto, got to much $$$ in mine to give it up!
    Plus I love it.:)
In retrospect should have upgraded the springs when I upgraded the shocks with the TMJ bumper.
Now I've got a 60 mph front bumper so if bambie's father runs out in front of me it's meatloaf...or smoky the bear, he'll be on be Barbie...:D

It really isn't. Takes maybe 2 to 3 hours?

Its one of the easiest of all the recalls.

Three of us in my office have this same series Taco & we're all waiting on the "notice" that they have a spring fix ready.

I guess when you have to make that many repair parts, it takes a while.

There's a LOT of these trucks they have to fix.

(Anybody got statistics on how many have been built, affected by this issue?)

Had mine replaced a few weeks back. The one thing that stood out the most about the call was it said it could cause the airbag not to inflate in an accident. Now all i have to worry about is being pierced by flying pieces of metal shrapnel! ! Lol. No fix letter yet on the L springs for me yet?

here is hoping they send the recall letters to me instead of previous owner. I wonder what happens if they send recall letters to previous owner instead of me? I have already updated the "toyota owners" website information.

When I bought my truck from a non toyota dealer, a few months or so later I got a recall letter from toyota themselves not an actual dealership.

I believe they track the vehicles... You should be getting a letter if you are effected by any of the recalls

I'm crossing my fingers. My rears have sagged, and softened, to where I need some overload capacity just to carry my skateboards. I'll probably say screw waiting for the recall and stick some coil-overs or add-a-leaf type overloads on it for now.

I'm having the shocks changed next month, so I'll get the dealer to inspect it & do a 4-wheel alignment then. If the springs are actually cracked, they'll probably spot it then.

I just had headers put on and the guy putting them in told me both my leaf springs are BROKE......I called my local dealer and the said that Toyota hasn't opened a bill to start looking at and fixing this issue.....I got the recal 2 months ago so this is bullshit but idk if they will replace them since I have 3in add blocks in the rear!?!?

If you registered your name on the website then you are probably good to go. You can keep an eye on this forum and when you see others saying they already got their official notices, all you have to do is contact a dealer if your letter doesn't arrive pretty soon.

Still waiting on the notice myself for my 2007 Pre-Runner. Got the preliminary letter several months ago.
