whats wrong with your 8.4? cant gusset it like Jason did his tundra axle and call it a day? I bet you can find a cheap tundra axle Ray your not looking hard enough or in the right places. In all reality, your looking to go lt right? "cheap" and LT don't really go hand in hand from what I gather

What's wrong with something like this?
    http:///www.currieenterprises.com/cestore/Products4x4.aspx?id=4401&p=2295.0000

Have them weld a truss on it, they can weld perches at whatever measurements? Just tell them what you want and they'll do it. You can always do the shock tabs and such Yourself, as long as they truss it!

As far as Ruffstuff goes they cant do shit! They don't do tabs, mounts, ends or nothing on them! They have another near by shop do it for them. I'd buy from someone that actually specializes in putting axles together. They had troubles with their axles back in the day when they were doing them themselves. Maybe nowadays they have it figured out?

Plus you should be able to get by with a 8.4. If you can't, spend the coin once and get something good!

For the life of me...I don't understand why anyone would have a manufacture weld on shock mounts, spring perches, etc, unless it was a drop in for factory suspension. How are you going to know pinion angle without putting it on the truck?

Fabricated housings are for ballers, racers, dumb luck craigslist finds, or kids with rich daddies.

Ok I was unaware about ruff stuff. And Jace your right I'm probably not looking in the right places. One tundra axle I found here on Craig's the guy wanted 750.. Way to much for it in my opinion. I'll keep looking around. And there is nothing wrong with my 8.4 just the fact it doesn't have a locker and it's only at 60" instead of 66" where I need to be. And with the cash I'm not to concerned about cheap but I'm not going to throw money away.

Just making sure this is seen. Getting everything right takes time and requires measurements on the truck.

was that a full drum to drum axle with a third member? if it has low mileage and isn't rusted to hell and no diff problems, I wouldn't think 700 is all that much? have you talked to yoda JIM? or yota yard here in town?

Yeah I have Jasons build pages 84-86 bookmarked for when I'm ready.

Yoda Jim i've never herd of, I'll look it up. Yoda yard was my next place to check out. That 700 is no longer available. There are two more I found 600 and a LSD one for 800. I'll just keep looking but thanks for those leads Jace.

That price is pretty rare. Those pop up about once every other year. Took me a few years to find mine at a good deal.

I've purchased over half dozen or so Toyota axles whether it be, e-lockers, the "8.4", standard 8.0", and mini truck 7.5" axles from a junk yard. Never paid more than $300 for an axle.

Maybe just inland empire area people can jack up the price higher for them. But yeah I never had to pay over 300 either just took me a while to find that price that wasn't a piece of crap axle.

I don't feel bad paying $300 for it being 4.56, factory lsd, came with ebrake lines, drive shaft, brake lines and local to me.

I payed way more for things that were a huge mistake.
