if your frame pass the inspection and will be sprayed. i would talk to them bout the overspray. when i spray the frames im very careful to avid stuff. cause if it was my truck i would be pissed.
and if you get a new frame they dont get spayed

This is what I was looking for. Mine will not pass inspection. Not with the amount of material that I I saw fall off. You tap it with anything lightly and the metal fractures and falls off.

Got the word. I will be the first frame this dealership does. Not the most comfortable about that info... But that also means that they might get a frame quicker than anyone else due to getting the go ahead from Toyota to do the frames. It was told to me that there is an 80 frame backorder right now though. Dealership is still another couple weeks out from getting the OK from the County and all the certs up to par. Then its game on.

After the inspection, they told me that they needed to get the GM's approval, but said it was not going to be an issue to do so. That was 0830. I called just to verify around 1700 and was told that they wanted to put me in a rental or loaner. Um, I politely declined and was told that the GM would make a decision tomorrow on the Loaner deal. They are not still certified and no official word when a frame will be available. Not really sure I want to be in a loaner for an extended period of time with an open ticket on when i will get mine back. I also said I would take the loner when they got my frame in while the work was done.

I mean, do they really want me to put 15k-20k on a loaner in the next few months? Treating it like mine, might end up with a lift and 35"s by the time I return it. !!!

    TLDR - > I'm getting a new frame.

    Two Questions?

    - I "thought" they ordered the Frames with your VIN attached (i.e. the frames are not just off the shelf and can be swapped as wanted?)

    - When you swap the frames are you making decent/more money or just the same as a full day of repairs??

Toyota, rightfully in my Opinion, Changes some parts on their nickel to ensure that it's fixed correctly and does not want trucks coming back for electrical problems from a damaged (from road use or frame swap damaged) harness. So they change it when they do the frame swap...

There are invoices posted in these threads that list the affected parts - although some parts might be part of a "kit" on the invoice.

Tacofish, When I took My Tacoma on Jan 28th to Newton Toyota the service manager told me I needed a new frame which I knew being the welds have disintegrated. I asked how long the wait would be for a frame? And he showed me a stack frames behind the dealership but said he was waiting for wiring harnesses that are hand made and could be 2 to 4 months.????
