Well, truck might be stuck in a Michael Jackson phase for awhile. Painted wheels yesterday. Wanted to do all four at once but with one side on jackstands, lifting the other w a hi lift was too sketchy. I need to get my own floor jack. Did two wheels yesterday, was gonna do two today. Now I'm stuck on daddy duty this afternoon. Prob can't paint depending on when wifey gets home. Oh well, I'll rock half silver half black if I have to

Any word on conditions up there? I've gone only once and it was a few weeks after the big storm in December. It was icy as shit and I almost slid off the road.

Below is my follow up on my trip up there two weeks ago. I'm not sure if it's the same or not, but I doubt there's more snow. :(

If everything works out well I'll be bringing the 83 :) 37s but no dual cases yet. Didn't wanna risk it on the drive home, just want to have it done.

I feel like it would get annoying to have the hubs covered up and to have to pull the caps off each time you want to put it in 4wd.

I'm guessing he just leaves the hubs locked in all the time.

Thanks, it's been a giant PITA but well worth it when it's done.

The LC center caps pull pull right off with no effort so its easy to access them. I will just lock them when I deflate my tires and unlock them when I air back up. Easy peasy!

Nope they will be unlocked all the time unless I need 4wd. Hoping to gain a MPG or two, a little bit of power and less wear and tear.

That works! Sounds like a good plan.
My mom's work used to have some manual hub runners for field work and some people would come back complaining that the 4wd never engaged. My mom would ask if they locked the hub, followed by blank stares.

Haha I can see that happening. You can convert yours really easy, all you have to do is add the hubs and you're good to go.

Yeah but I like not having to get out of the truck to go in 4wd if it's just a short amount of time and I don't air the tires down. Who knows, maybe I'll change my mind one day, though.

Well, mod's on hold for a bit. Bought the wife a new SUV this weekend. 2015 Ford Escape. Thing is pretty friggin sweet. Always been a toyota guy, except for my '66 mustang, but Ford definitely stepped their game up. We traded in her '10 Scion TC for it. She's having shoulder surgery (the scion was a manual) and with the decision to start having kids soon I decided to just upgrade her. First big purchase together, worked out pretty well!. Drove down to SD to get it, visited family in Mission Viejo, saw a ton of Taco's with TW decals. lol So many broleaner's. One of her good friends is a high up at North County Ford. Got us a kickass deal. :spy: so we decided to jump on it.
