I swapped out my bench seat for bucket seats a week or so ago (loving the buckets vs the bench btw) and now I am searching for options for a center console. I know that a factory center console will bolt in, but I don't know if I am interested in spending the money for the entire console. Also, I have a manual transmission so I would need one from a manual also.

I am considering maybe adding a rear center console from an access cab, or maybe just the rear section (arm rest and storage portion) from a front console.

Anyone have any input, ideas, experience, etc??

    Thanks.

I have considered that and I haven't ruled it off the list!

I made the switch to buckets on an 89' Toyota years ago. I bolted down a tool box to use as a center console. Worked great.

It is pretty straight forward. The swap threads on here pretty much are right on. Swapping the passenger seat occupancy pad/sensor isn't really that difficult. It was the only thing I was leery about before I started the swap but if you take your time it's no big deal.

Start to finish I bet I had 3 hours in the swap and that is including making a trip to the local hardware store to buy 4 additional bolts for the seat brackets. Which are 10mm x 1.25 thread. I can't remember the exact length though! Somewhere around 1.5" (whatever that is in mm).

Probably the most frustrating part of the project is just dealing with and hiding the wires/sensors/seatbelt receptacles from the bench seat.

The center console is the same from access cab to reg cab. Same one in 05 AC as the one in my 08 RC. The cool option you have is to score a black one from 2012 up if so desired. The console itself shouldn't be an issue to score used but scoring one from a manual might make it tricky but could always just score a new boot and swap it in making it work for the stick. Get the base model black cupholder piece. The silver ones like in SR5s will get scratched up looking after a while. I kept those from my base 05 when trading it in on the 08 SR5.

Are the consoles the same in Access and Double Cabs?

Is the only difference between an auto console and manual the shifter boot?

    Thanks!
