My 05 4Runner seized a piston on one of the calipers. This was at about 80,000 miles. Seems like a common issue on these trucks. I got a re manufactured one for it.

Just have to make sure you are doing it at the same time not to mess up the abs shit. Atleast that's what I read lol.

I do want to ask, how do you do the c clamp method. Cause I couldn't get it to work for me, mostly because I could not find an effective way to hook it up. The picture didn't help me much cause its not a tacoma caliper.

Its the same theory with the c clamp and wood block. How can you not understand how to do it after looking at that picture? The only thing being done wrong is the c clamp is applying pressure on one side when it should be being distributed evenly.

Take a picture of what your calipers look like since they are different.

Look I'm not stupid if that's what you're thinking.
I have the fixed brake caliper. Are you taking the caliper off to use the clamp? I've never bothered to take the caliper off if I was just replacing the pads. So if it has to be taken off to use the c clamp method, then that's why I'm not getting it in my head is cause I was just visualizing it on the rotor. I can't take a picture because everything is assembled right now.
But that picture looks like it's only one side of a caliper and it's taken off the rotor. I don't even see where the other side would be, was it completely removed?

And I'd suggest pulling the caliper off. It will make it much easier to free it up, or determine if you need a replacement.

Its gonna look like this, just with one on each side. You can do it with them on. In place of the wood you can use the old pads to press the c-clamps back on if you arent putting them back on. You may have to crack the bleeder open a little to let the pressure off. Just make sure to keep the master cylinder topped off with fluid.

Gotcha. That makes more sense. Gonna say the block of wood wouldn't fit in there, especially if I left the caliper on. Makes more sense knowing that was a floating caliper. Thanks for the help guys. It's all clear now.

Now that makes more sense. Awesome. Thank you.

I just have to wait for my parts to come in so I can replace my calipers and all. Thanks guys
Pretty much I'm gonna replace the calipers, brake pads (already have), new rotors are already on, and there will be stainless steel brake lines I'll install as well, hopefully fixing the squishy brake pedal feeling.

Glad to hear you figured it out man. I know you aren't stupid, and I definitely understand that some things or guys are just more visual than others who might understand by just read in it. I'm definitely more visual.
