$375 for the part alone, or part plus labor? I don't think I'll have a choice in the matter at the moment at least, unfortunately. A new snowblower is going to be at least $500 assuming I could find one used (which isn't happening this season, let's be honest), and new ones are pushing 4 figures, which also isn't much of an option.

    Blah, first world problems.

I am looking at buying a new machine also and there are some out there. I was just on http://www.snowblowersdirect.com/ and they aren't to bad. I bought my mower online and it shipped West Bridgewater. I picked it up on the ride home. Very easy, I also did it with my generator.

    Thanks for the links!

I only have a 22" machine, so it shouldn't be the end of the world. I'll bring it to Morgan Power Equipment in Halifax. They were reasonable when the new carb I put on didn't work right (and I was just over trying to fix it again).

I would really like to take some time and spend some money when the time comes and get a beast of a machine, but unfortunately, right now isn't the time.

What is the general feeling about the chute material? I like the plastic over the metal. The plastic seems to clog less and wont bend and rust

I have plastic, but I also don't have a lever/apparatus to move the chute. I have to manually twist the chute to aim it. I haven't had any issues with it yet, but my concern is always, will the plastic crack with the cold temperature.

If it was lever based, I wouldn't have any issues with it based upon my experience.

Good God no! Don't let them fix it!

They "fixed" my carb on my last one and the next time I used it the thing died again. Charged me again for fixing it and told me it was bad fuel so tough shit. It had fuel I just bought that day, 93 octane and Startron mix so that's bullshit.

Luckily it is in a dirt crawlspace so I shut it down fast. No hot water in the bathroom, fuck my life

Mine blew in my mudroom, not too much damage but took me almost 10 minutes to finally get the water to stop. Definitely a pain in the ass. Hope you get it resolved soon.

If it's in a straight section of pipe it can be pretty easy. They sell these slip fittings. No soldering needed. Just cut the Split section out and replace with fitting or section of pipe with the slip fitting on each end.

I've got a plastic chute on my snowblower. Never had any problems with it, and it's from the early 90s. 28" snapper heavy duty with a newer 8hp techumseh engine

HA! That's funny I've got the exact same machine, only I bought mine in 2000 ( I guess it could be a leftover). Its amazing how well that little 8 horse plant does when its running really well and all the belts are just right. I heard that the snow blower people at Snapper came from Ariens originally.

I have a bad feeling it's a corner elbow. The bonehead who ran that pipe in a rectangular space ran it towards the rear of the house, then 90 degrees left up against the foundation right near the outside. Even as a layperson it looks totally stupid to me
