 Hello from the depths of Iceland. Minus 6 on the moose-ometer this morning, and the weather report tells me it is just going to get colder. Our stone walls act like slow motion heat exchangers, and right now they are cold, cold, cold. Even with the woodstove going 24x7 the heater just runs and runs.
I hear that. We're on track to go through at least 50% more wood than usual this year. I thought I had a good stockpile, but it is looking more like I have just enough to make it through to spring.
Yep, the sun is higher in the sky now and when it is shining it is not too bad outside. As long as the wind doesn't blow too hard! Speaking of which I'm on my way out to move some snow; I should be able to just toss it up in the air and let the breeze blow it away...

EDIT: Mike, how much snow did you get this time? Darn global warming. ;)

It's a lick granuloma?? She's on anti-biotics and we'll see next monday if they are working. He's concerned that the infection could go into her wrist joint. She broke the hard cone I had  so she's now wearing a flat one, but it doesn't stop her from getting to the spot. but does prevent some. Ordered a soft cone last night and it should be here wed. Local pet stores didn't have anything but a hard one - she broke one, so we'll make do with what we have for a few days . She's mad at me... I'm not taking the cone off and she's going outside on a leash. I'm NOT happy with it, but have to do what I can to keep her from licking it. She'll be standing there or walking, and she just lowers her head and licks, so leash and cone

    i think about 10"
    nothing like they said.
Well, that's wrong. 20 miles to the south it was rumored 24"
The storm split in two right over me.
With the blowing and drifting it was over the top of the blower.

I had to do a little roof raking as the wind didn't take off what i wanted.

Blower went great. A definite learning curve. I'm going to trim the tops of my trees next week. Might as well. i can just about touch the tops now.
i need to borrow some snowshoes.

    A few pics.

I didn't get that job after all. I was busy on another vehicle.

Doesn't matter. If it's not one ungrateful a hole it's another.
    I'm tired of it. I can't win.

    Hope Annie feels better

    Evening all:
Lucked out eh Mike, only 10". Good you got it back from the edge of the roof, I had to do that one time because it formed an ice dam and backed the water under the shingles. Last roof had a ice and water barrier installed along the front and back edges, so far so good.

    Sue.
    Poor Annie!
Heck, I figured you would make a cone, you even have a pattern.

thanks, me too. spot looks marginally better - could be just because she's not licking it for hours every day :notsure:

    Looks pretty

I know the feeling about not being able to win. Hope you can at least see a few nice folks

thanks. She'll be happy when the cone comes off and she has freedom!!!

Hope you guys can keep the water out of your houses!!!

Thanks. Now that you mention it, I do have a cone, but nothing to make one out of. Thought about duct taping it back together but she runs into things and didn't want it to break again and hurt one of them.

My tv is on the fritz   :annoyed:

    Evening everyone!!

I hope Annie is feeling better and the new cone keeps her from licking the spot.

Charlie is feeling better - moving slowly which I think is related to the drain tube hanging out of the incision by his right leg. That comes out tomorrow, hopefully. The wound isn't draining anymore so I think it will. Otherwise, he rest quite a bit but he's eating normally and loves to get his butt scratched...but don't we all!!??

It's been a cold day here - high of 12 but with a strong wind keeping the wind chill below 0 all day. It's now -2 and headed down. Our record this year was -12 - we'll see if the record stands.

Went to see American Sniper today - moving film and I have to say it made me really miss the stress and camaraderie of the Army.

Morning All:wave:...Take a week off and it takes an hour to get caught up on the post's .
JIM IS BANNED:eek:...hope he gets back on again. I am going to drop him an e-mail.
Damn Paul, hope the doc can do something for you. My doc wanted me to get the flu, shingles and pneumonia shots and I told him NO WAY... the missus had to get the flu shot cause she works in a hospital-was sick as a dog with the flu for a week (missed work), a neighbor who winters in fla. got the flu and pneumonia shots and has been in the hospital 3 times with issues related to the flu and is in now with really bad pneumonia ...no shots and all I had so far is a cold:D. Hope you shake it.
Mike, you folks in the north east have been getting slammed. Be careful and try to stay warm. On the plus side you probably won't see your grass until June:rolleyes:...
Cold here this morning 1* but only a little bit of snow. They have so much salt down on the roads they are white. More snow coming in but only supposed to be an inch.
Take care all and have a good day. Stay warm.

It hit -8 here today - well above the low of -14 we had last week. But, the wind is brutal. The bad thing is the dogs seem to enjoy it - I take them out for a walk and they want to stand around eating snow.

Hope the Doc can give you some good meds, Paul!!! Feel better!!

Charlie goes in to the vet this afternoon. Now he seems to be favoring his right rear leg. Ugh. Hopefully it's just a sprain.

 -10 on the moose-ometer this morning. I have no idea how accurate it is but that's the lowest I've ever seen it.

Nostradamus eh. I read his stuff years ago, in my 20s. I came to the conclusion that it was the work of a mind completely zonked on drugs (he was expelled from medical school for being an apothecary). Plus he was so vague that he was bound to get some hits. (Many historians think he was vague on purpose, like astrologers.) So at the end of the day I put Nostradamus right up there next to the horoscope and the National Weather Service; if I want to know what's happening I walk to the window and look out.

I'm with you on that Dave.

Once I learned how to spell Nostradamus (the Latin version of the spelling) I went on to spelling "onomatopoeia". Can't believe I can still do it!!
