I used #0000 steel wool soaked in White Diamond Metal Polish and finished with a quick terry cloth application of more polish then removed everything with a clean terry cloth.

I tried quite a few different aluminum polishes before White Diamond. The stuff works really well and leaves what seems like a wax film that water beads off of. Coincidently White Diamond has some connection with a lab in Boone, IA. I am not sure if it is made in Boone or just distributed from there. The only brick and mortar store I have seen it in is Advance.

I prefer black diamond. It comes in a bigger bottle and you get more polish per squirt.

    Welcome.

How do you like the Quad Cities? I always thought it wouldn't be too bad living over there. Relative to Iowa they have a good mountain biking trail system and a lot of singletrack trail building which is a draw for me.

The quad cities is like any other town to me. It gets old and boring after a while. The mall is always hoppin with caddys on 24s though.

    You're boring.

24s? Sounds like a deal breaker for me as I am more into 13" gold spokes.

What no LCA bushings? Cheap ass...;) My luck isn't much good so I won't wish it to you so I will give you my advice instead. Save yourself the money and trouble of tie rods and only replace them if they are bad. When the rack guide is wore out or if it is the old style rack guide it makes the inners look wore out if testing is done with the boots on.

Did you spring for OEM LBJs? If not I would keep rocking those too but only if they are free of play. I inspected my Tacoma and 4Runner LBJs this past spring summer as a precaution and seen no reason to replace either but do what you and your wallet feel comfortable with! :D

Ha yeah i got oem lbjs , but I'm not gonna spend the money on those bushings ! You cray . I got the new style guide an I saw my boot torn on cvs but I'm not returning the core so I'll just re boot them and keep them as spares , everything else however was cheap enough to just be safe rather than sorry. It's like my 240,000 mile tune up , because 250,000 is too main stream

I don't know what little clip you are talking about but you will have to take the boot loose to install the inner tie rods. The inner clamp isn't designed to be reused, the outer one can be reused. A quality zip tie is the easiest solution for the inner clamp but another metal clamp would be best. The inner clamp is really narrow so a standard hose clamp isn't ideal either.
