Well I was thinking hard rubber like a hockey puck, you said poly :D
But poly is so damn expensive. For the ammount I could spend on poly spacers I could build a basket.

I've recently had an idea that I'm going to mess with come spring. Right now I have a cargo net on the ceiling of my cap for storage. The net currently sags a lot with weight so it hasn't been that efficient. I decided to scrap the net idea and store a rubber maid table on the ceiling with a track system for easy storing and be easily secure. I just came across this video that took the ceiling storage space idea and super sized it!

Chux, I've seen that before and it's pretty sick!
A few guys brought up the fact that it really cuts down on visibility. I don't have a cap yet but I imagine the cap alone is bad enough and not sure how much worse it could be. I believe someone had it in the "show me your shell" thread

Looking at a few pics and other vids it looks like it sits high enough that it wouldn't cut visibility too much.

Great storage idea! I really like the base storage rollout options that are ou there too

Well I have have my full size spare right now blocking 3/4 of the back window, and when I get a rear with tire carrier next week its not going to get any better. Ive driven alot of commercial trucks that the rear view mirror is useless or not even there. It doesnt bother me none. Makes me laugh to hear people ney say a clever idea because it may limit one of three ways to see behind you lol

That is an awesome idea. My only concern is at that point there is an exterior rack with miscellaneous stuff on top, plus a leer locker which im sure weights some, plus any gear that is in there.... how much can these camper shells really hold? Also the bed rails of these trucks are completely polymer. The guy who sold me mine told me that 150# is all the shell's top is rated for. I really like the idea of the drawer systems. Also i was considering doing a net of some sort on top.... what if you used nylon webbing rather than a bungy material? Would that secure things up there better. I would really want it for long items that i dont want just hanging out in the bed like paddles, fishing poles, etc. Just thinking out loud at this point.

Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
Why not move it down the TW Underground Railroad... John is up near buffalo and could grab it so it can work it's way down from member to member. People always moving up and down the east coast.

We are many post and much more $$ down the road from that ....... I am on to a brand new A.R.E CX series camper with windoors all around and planning on getting a front runner rack on top.....

Chux has become a professional sponsored fisherman who gets free shit from leer (leer locker).....

And Prinsu is getting a new camper shell........

The 150# rating is moving weight not static. Plus most states have a 150-200# limit on what you can legally carry on a roof. My yakima rack, with axe shovel and 265/75/r16 spare from my ranger all weighed in at like 105-115. Still plenty of space & weight for wood or inflatable boat or whatever else I wanted.

I agree with you ... i like to keep my weight as low as possible. What is your rear suspension set up currently?

Yeah exactly, I can't see it making a difference.
Do you know how it attaches?

Yeah, I guess I'm curious what they use for support? A large washer that sits on top? Are there any structural pieces that run in the fiberglass?

Oz-t posted about the way the top is made to carry the weight in the show me your shell thread. It was a while ago, but could be searched.
