Well, I am not an expert on tuning however from what I have read the MAF will allow you to tweak your fuel/air mixture when you are over 80% throttle. Basically, it is like an excel sheet IIRC. You change the values in certain cells. What this all means I am a bit fuzzy. I do know you can have them send you the MAF w/ a intake tune already in place. Your best bet really is to PM Gadget. I am at the end of my knowledge on this area and don't want to give you wrong info ya know. From what I have seen it seemed pretty simple to tune once you have and idea what it alls means.

if you tighten the 2 bolts down complete that hold the airbox down you will notice it pop through the fender well...what the bolts are threading into is only plastic...

so what I did is put a couple extra washers as spacers and tighten the bolts down till they were snug and not appearing through the bottom of the fender well...

I can get you pics if you want...but other than that no problems with my TRD CAI...I am also running the APR X-1 tuned with the TRD CAI and the DTLH...X-1 is my favorite mod thus far...

That's what I did too. Put one washer on the double sided rubber bolt to make sure the AC line bracket was snug. Than I used 4 washer for one of the bolts and 2 for the other one. it fits perfect now. Now all i have to do is do some WOT driving to see if it was worth the money. Eventually I will have to make up my mind if I want to spend the money for the X1 or save a lil and go with the MAF calibrator.

honestly bro...save up the money and get yourself the APR X-1 unit...its made specifically for the 1GR-FE engine...+ its self tuning...you can't go wrong there...and if you want an even finer tune all you gotta do is run a couple of data logging save it to the usb jump drive (that it comes with) and email the results to APR (allan phillips racing), my buddy DS from HVM (High Velocity Motorsports), Gadget from URD (underdog racing development)...or some one with hands on knowledge of the x-1...that's what I did...had a new tuned map emailed to me within 10 minutes...now my truck is straight up BEAST...:D and its still N/A...wait till I got TURBO with FORGED INTERNALS...then i'll be able to blow skirts off of the vegas skanks...rofl

trust me just with the TRD CAI the truck is a whole other beast...add yourself some DTLH and it will change into another truck 1 again...put the x-1 in and you will catch a chub, cream your pants, and have the biggest smile on your face all at the same time...

That sounds so tempting... like right now. LOL too bad I can't afford it at this time. There is so much money that I want to spend on this truck. I just wish I had it. Anyone wanna spare me money for the X1??? PPPleease. If I did get the X1, is the stock map saved somewhere insace i had to go to the dealer? Also what kinda deal could I get on one of these bad boys?

Thats the plan. This moth I bought the TRD CAI, and I'm on the list for the WO group buy, so I need to come up with the money for the group buy too. I'm sure once I pay up for the mods I'm getting now I'll be able to start saving up for the next one one the list, which I think will be the X1 and/or an electonic radiator fan.

    I got your PM.

I have the Flex-A-Lite Electric Fan for the 1GR-FE ('05-'09) Tacomas...I haven't installed it yet...still sitting on the shelve along with all the other parts I got...I may have to sell this...send me a pm if your interested...I got it on 1st GB on XRU.com from my but Shane from Sittin' Sic...

trust me the X-1 will benefit you a lot more the the electronic fan...the the EF (electric fan) you will be freeing up the engine from using the stock clutch fan. by getting rid of the stock clutch fan the engine has less weight to turn which in the end giving you quicker warm up and cool down times...along with quicker increase in throttle response...you may gain 5-6hp to the crank...may 2-3rwhp (rear wheel horse power) but no enough to where the butt dyno can tell...but your engine will definitely notice and you will be able to hear the engine accelerate a lot smoother and quicker...

Thanks! The X1 might end up moving to the top of the mod list, thats of course as soon as I pay for the seat covers.
