    I promised my wife that I would not buy new tires and rims until I wore out the tires on my 09 Taco Double Cab SB PreRunner. Yay, the time has finally come.

    I intend to go from BFGoodrich Rugged Trail T/A 265/70 R16 to:

    BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO2 275/65 R18 mounted on American Outlaw Buckshot 18 X 8.5 matt black rims.

    My PreRunner has the factory suspension with no lift.

    Does anyone know if my truck will require a lift with the new tires/rims, or just a possible trim of the wheel well plastics?

    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks Geekhouse. I already looked at that. But imagine it is based on no rub, not on wheel well mod possibilities. That's why I threw the question out there.

    What is the back psacing of the rims? You might rub on the UCAs. I run 285s and had to trim a bit. Wheel well liner, CMC, remove mudflaps. And I still have to beat the pinch weld in and trim some more likely.

    Geekhouse - LT275/65R18 123R E1 RWL - does any of that have the backspacing? I haven't a clue.

    What is UCA.

    I understand the wheel well liner, but CMC? I am prepared to remove the front mudflaps if necessary.

    You are running 285s and had to make some adjustments without a lift kit. I will be running 275s. So it seems that I may not have to make as many adjustments as you. Am I correct?

    Are you running 285s on 18 inch rims?

    This is all new to me, so be gentle. LOL

    Back spacing is on the wheel not tire I believe. So I have 4.5" backspacing on my wheels.

    UCA = upper control arms

    CMC= Cab mount chop

    I'm running 285s on a 3" lift and had to trim all that.

    I'm on 16's :eek:

    Anyone run a 255/75/R16? I am looking to go to that from a 265/70/R16. Stock suspension for now.

    If you found that size, it's actually smaller than 265/ 75/ 16 which fits just fine and is readily available in many styles and ply ratings. If you want skinnies, look at 235/ 85/ 16. They are widely available and are basically the same height as the 265/ 75, but are generally only available in 10 ply (E rated) because they are mostly run on duelly work trucks.

    I'm very happy with my 265s and will run those until I get UCAs so I can fit 255/ 85/ 16. I run C rated (6 ply) and they seem to hold up well and run smooth for my uses.

    Edit: That's my experience with my 6 lug, maybe someone who knows better can chime in on fit for your 4 banger.
