I finally caved and called the dealer today to see if they can fix the squeak / creak on mine. I'm worried I'm going to hear the can not replicate after I drop it off. The noise drives me crazy.

On my 02 I didn't get any clutch noise until about 80,000 miles on my 13 it started around 7,000. Meanwhile the clutch pedal on my Prelude with over 120,000 miles hasn't made a peep (I know they are different designs).

For those that have had the TSB done is there less sideways slop with the new pedal?

I hope the dealership can fix this.

When i went in for my appt. to have them check it, it wasn't making a noise. I told them that. They said, "ok". Then they just ordered it. Didn't touch or look at my truck

That would be great if mine will do that. Did you show them the TSB or mention it to them?

I got mine done last year during the summer. I had to post you tube videos, before and after to the dealers email for them to call me back and schedule it to be done. otherwise the prior dealer dude told me to bring it in early and leave it for them to recreate the noise. i was like f that. its amazing what videos can do!

so far, no other issues and it actually shifts more proper than before!

When you were able to get the TSB performed did it also reduce the amount of side to side play you had in the clutch pedal?

I'm still thinking mine won't get done as it doesn't seem to be making the noise right now, but fingers crossed. When it is making the sound it is annoying as hell and you can even feel it in the pedal.

    They're a$$hates still...

-when they ordered parts, they had me in waiting room for 25min. for no reason, "oh, sorry sir... you could have just left, no need to look at it"

-when the parts still didn't come in for a week, I call and ask what's the status...15 min wait on hold... "oh sir, yea, the final part came in today". (Uh huh, yea I'm sure it came in today... and why didn't I get a phone call?)

-when it was done. CMC rod wasn't adjusted to spec (would have ruined throwout bearing that way, I adjusted it myself). Brake fluid on dead pedal and floor mats as well as the engine bay. Grease on interior panels

That sucks. I didn't have a "great experience for the one and only "free" oil change I had them do. I haven't had to go back until now and I am not looking forward to it. Just trying to give them a chance. I also hate the noise and feeling.

well, honestly i feel there was some side play, prior but not much. it seems proper now and no issues and smooth engage and disengage

i wish everyone luck with theirs and hope you get dealers that give a rats ass. like i posted, it came down to calling toyota out on you tube with before and after videos of the squeek happening. i was fed up with the dealers first reponse of, oh well bring it in and leave it for the day, blah blah ah fu.

so finally the dude at the dealer called me up after i loaded his work email with the you tube videos lol. and got lucky and they had techs who already had been aware of the issue.

being in arizona, mine just squeeked being in the heat baking for four hours or more in direct sunlight, lol.. hot as fuck here in the summer, pardon my french! ahahahahahaah

The only issue I had when they did mine is that they didnt tweak the clutch start safety switch correctly. Even if i slammed my foot down as hard as possible i would end up wiggling my foot on the pedal turning the key to get it to make contact. I was gonna take it back but the pedal was so perfect at this point in the feel, quietness, and catch point that i didnt. Lets just say i fixed it and dont have that issue anymore :anonymous: :bananadance:

I am out of warranty so I probably won't be doing this. However, I have a possible solution for folks that don't want to spend cash for the TSB.

I was planning on disassembling the clutch pedal to see what item was causing the noise. Upon close inspection I noticed that the noise was coming from the area between the pedal and the plunger shaft. So I took a mirror and flash light, took a look to see what was behind there ,and I noticed a glob of dried grease hanging. I stuck my fingers behind there and sure enough it was dry. So I got my can of lithium grease with a straw, stuck it behind the clutch pedal and squirted. Pumped the clutch, rotated 90, squirted, repeated about 9 times. Clutch creak is gone. Actuation is smooth again. See pic below for reference.

^ That's exactly what I did with mine. Works great and keeps it quiet for a long time.

the issue lies with the plastic casing the cmc is made of... needs swapped with a metal cased cmc unit... grease isn't the cure/answer

I bought a 2007 Tacoma yesterday and when I got it home heard a distinct squeal. When I push in the clutch the squeal goes away. Researching the issue I find a TSB on clutch squeek. Can anyone advise on how to fix this. Also, what can possibly happen if it is NOT fixed?
    Thanks

Mine has been doing it for some time so I looked under the dash and sprayed some liquid graphite from napa on the pivot joint and it goes away for 6 months. I live on 5 acres and have a 2 mile in on a dirt road to get home so dirt is always an issue.
