Auxiliary Reverse Lights

I like the idea of mounting the lights in a spot like this. Anybody else use a spot that is similar?

It's a good spot. But, like I said it's a cheapo light. With some decent lights in that spot though would light up behind you nicely. And, It's like 8 degrees right now I'm not going out therrr.

 

Where exactly is it mounted?

 

This is the light with the bracket I used. It's just mounted using this and the existing hole for the bedside support bracket.



If you look closely you can see the bolt I used.

 

I have some older sing row 6" LED pods I might have to try in this spot. I didn't want to mount under the bumper because I thought they'd probably be ripped off.

 

I like the idea but I think with all the gravel / dirt roads I'm on these would need constant cleaning to work for me

Yeah that's the biggest downside. Probably why he's just using cheap pond lights. Interesting idea though

 

I plan on going with this setup so I don't have anything hanging that can get caught up on something....

problem is no lense.... just gonna be a shit ton of scattered light and isnt gonna actually throw it any distance

 

That and I would rather spend $30 and install lights in the bumper or something.

 

I found them on eBay and the company stopped making them. The eBay store has also been shut down. I wish they still made them so I could recommend them. They have a cast aluminum housing that's completely sealed. I stuck one in a bucket with the leads hooked up to a 9V for 30 minutes to test and no leaks, no condensation.

They are all made in China but if you search "16 W LED Work Light" on eBay, you can find cheap flush mount and stand-alone lights. I've had mine for about 8 months now with no problems. Not bad for $32 + wiring.

Whoa! That would some serious light, 2 dually's on each side.

 

I have since removed one of them because it got water inside it. I have a new set of Blitzpro's to go in place of these, just haven't got around to it.

 

I was looking last night at this spot and because I still have flaps on (hopefully they don't get ripped off sometime) it seems like the area is relatively sheltered. I had my truck out in a little mud last weekend and this area didn't get too dirty, seems mostly because it is right behind and above the flap. There is also another spot a little higher which might work. I don't need the light to go out like a headlight just light up maybe 20' or so.
