I love everything that I've seen about it so far, except the gopro mount, which I couldn't give a shit about.

    The interior is especially nice.

It gets worse if you click to zoom in. I have never seen such a mismatched collection of buttons, dials, and surfaces in a production car.

It's what happens when a company tries to put a new design on top of an old one, while trying to make it look different.

    Agreed...
    &
on the interior the steering wheel seems to be the only carry over...

Or it's a really sharp looking, modern design.

Exactly. I can say its ugly dosent mean I'm a Toyota hater or wrong. Just like the guys who are absolutely in love with it. I like alot of the updates but the thing is f-ing ugly.

Maybe some of us have little more experience than others.
You know that "been there done that "
    Lets start with the engine.
Thats a 3.5L V6 with no Turbo in 4500lb truck. A car engine in the truck, Toyota done that before, their fiasco with 3.0 is pretty much legendary. That thing was such a crap now people don't want it for free. So this is a repeat.
Also 3.5L 2GR engine already has bad rep. Blown head gaskets, leaking oil carbon buildup and thats all in passenger cars. Add to that Atkinson cycle and people will be dumping gallons of sea foam in hope of removing carbon, but the only way carbon build up comes off is with wire brush. I wonder how many of those " i want one" will be here crying they need to spend $1000 to clean their engine.

Lets look at the front styling, we just spent 6 months laughing at Colorado. Integrated bumper means a lot of limitation on aftermarket bumpers. Hanging plastic nose will get destroyed pretty quickly.

Inside Cabin: That 80's style tape deck radio unit is some kind of joke. Who wants to have 80's tape deck in the truck.
4wd switch below everything, means when you on snowy road and you need to go to 4hi you will have to take your eyes off the road to not hit power button and find damn 4wd switch.
Seriously like people who designed this thing never drove truck outside parking lot. :frusty:

No its bunch of parts from Highlander, sienna prius 4 runners tossed together. This design looks literally like Toyota went through bins in the factory and whatever was leftover from other cars end up in this truck.

I agree with other guy, that does not look like normal design, more like random crap somebody found and decided to use. There are better color and shape coordination when some people add buttons for their extra stuff than in that 2016 truck.

Sounds like some people need to get in bed with some other truck companies since Toyota is so worthless anymore.

People said all the same things about the Honda direct injection when they went to that in 2013. That has quieted down since. Mine has been flawless, yes it was a first year 9th gen accord.

No one said its worthless. I think people are taking criticism too harsh (fanboys) Toyota is a far from perfect automobile but has proven to be above the rest, but again dosent mean it cant fail or make junk like the domestics.

When did you drive this 2016 Tacoma and have a hard time finding the 4WD selector??? Never seen so much hate towards something that hasnt been driven by the general public...good thing your not getting one...no need to waste your time ranting anymore when 99% of TW knows your displeasure with the truck.

I am by no means a Toyota Fanboy, the day Ford offers their global ranger, my Tacoma is getting traded in. Heck I am looking at other options right now, there just not much in this class to choose from. Checked out the Colorado but in my opinion its interior is S***.

That said the 3.5 is actually a pretty good candidate, better than the engine in the 4runner actually. The 4.0 has had it's issues as well and was new and proven in 2005 when it debuted. Your whole nonsense about not being a truck engine is complete BS. The current 2GE-FSE 3.5 has pretty decent torque curve closely matching that of the current 4.0 in the Tacoma. the 2GR-FSE's matches pretty well above 2000 RPM, and for below 2000 Toyota may have a tuning fix. How about we actually look at some specifications for the engine that this new one is based off of.

Now to the interior. IDK about anyone else, but I don't have to look for where my 4x4 switch is, and its actually very nice tiered dash, similar to the way the new lexus dashes are designed. There is a bit of a mishmash of buttons, but that doesn't bother me. I will give you that the exterior is not the prettiest -- wish they had done a bit more thinking about that front end.

Modern huh? Looks like the developers of Windows 8.0 were put on the job.

The 2GR going into the new Taco will have Toyota's direction system. In the IS, that engine is good for 306 hp and 277 ft lbs torque. There's no reason to think the Taco will any less than that....and possibly more, especially torque.

A better picture of that AWESOME interior needs to be posted. Whoever took the other one in this thread forgot to turn their flash off. Flash ruins pictures.
