thats good to know, i haven't opened it up yet but i can see a bunch of grease on my slip yolk from quickly looking at it. I'll be pulling it apart tonight or tomorrow for further inspection. i cant see it being harmful if i welded both, i want a more responsive steering.

the slop has to be somewhere in the steering shaft, the rack and inner/outer tie rods are brand new

I've been chasing play for a year. I replaced all heims, bushings, and inner/outer tie rod ends. Replaced the intermediate steering shaft. Replaced the rack and pinion with a used one from here.

It's better, but still has some play. Unpleasant to drive on the freeway, wanders all over the place. I think I'll check the slip joint tomorrow, didn't know about that piece before. That thread is from a first gen but I'm sure we have something similar.

If its not that, then I'm going to replace the rack again.

Kinda the nature of the beast when DDing a LT truck. Drag, wind resistance all that noise.

It's beyond that. It was way better when I first LT'd the truck.

Something somewhere has play in it.

If you plan on doing the front up with LT you should do the rear. And a traditional bedcage and setup. Just my opinion. I'd rather do it once and be done than multiple times

Yea and I don't think those hoops will work great..they can..but not as well as something else. Total chaos makes a cool external rear shock mount kit that would work better IMO.

But I agree with Juan. Might as well plan on doing it rear. The rear is more important to setup then the front.

Even though I'm going to do a mid travel setup first before I lt the rear..but I want to go straight to links.

Yea seems to be the general consensus. So gonna do a mid travel setup to make me happy enough I think while I save for a link setup.

Yea...can't do that...mostly because my rear shocks are completely and utter blown..haha they don't do anything. So just gonna mount some new shocks and a t100 axle possibly so,e hydros and call it a day.

    Then save for links.

I have seen that a love a lot of ideas he has done. I'm thinking something very very similar really. I like his gas tank setup especially as I had planned on running a tall skinny fuel cell inbetween the shock towers right behind the cab. I was going to have my towers tie into the cage coming out of the cab right be hind the cab almost.

It must be nice having a nice brake and CNC machine at your disposal to make that stuff...sigh..if only..
