    Shoot I don't even take mine out of 4WD unless there is no snow/ice on the roads in the winter. Looks to be OK why didn't you just slide it home then turn it back over?

    does turning tires to black wall out count? How bout added snug top rebel.
    That tow truck operator was pretty damn good! I'd never seen anyone reflip like that. Where did that second chain attach to?

    Glad you're ok and in good spirits!

    I didn't have friends to call to help roll it. I was about 3 hours from home. Plus, the State Police didn't let me do anything myself, or even help Jimmy from Astro Wrecking. They don't want civilians walking along a snowy highway, obviously.

    It only started after cleaning the spark plugs, adding more oil, than letting it spew all that lost oil out of the case. She smoked pretty good for 20 minutes, too. Not a side of the highway repair in the middle of a blizzard. At least I'm not that good ...

    Jimmy did an awesome job, and it's the first rollover he's done in a couple years. He attached the chains to the far tire rods, front and back, and cranked her over.

    I was able to stay upbeat and laugh about it, because all the important things were secure. 20 fingers and 20 toes between me and the wife. The dogs, thankfully, weren't ion the bed. Everything else is just stuff.

    Now the fun part begins:

    * OEM roof panel
    * OEM door panels
    * Glassworks front fenders
    * Glassworks bed fenders
    * glass racing hood (maybe)
    * ARB bumper (always wanted one)
    * rear bumper (both stock bumpers were beat to shit before this)

    Wheels and a lift in a year or two when the new tires are worn out.

    Who knew crashing was this much fun?

    I was looking at race bodies last night, but they're too aggressive for me. But I don't want to go full OEM either ...

    i'd check the suspension on the passenger side - when it bounced after being uprighted you could have damaged the shocks, leaf springs, etc.

    amazing how well these trucks hold up!

    Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
    I do it all the time and never have had a problem, it's all in the technique I suppose. What I do is goose the throttle and when the engine brakes down, I disengage the 4wd and it goes out without popping or binding anything. I absolutely cannot stand hearing it 'clunk' out of 4wd like it does if I do it wrong.

    they are a bullet proof motor!

    glad to see you are staying positive!

    sounded like just by being upside down the cylinders filled with some oil and wouldnt let it turn over.

    And you did the right thing by removing sparkplugs and letting her spew out everything.

    She will run for another 200k miles no prob, 1st gens are tough!

    No damage to shocks or springs. I just drove her home, about 180 miles all told and she's solid. May have lost a little power, but that might just be in my head. She felt weak the first few miles, but seemed to bounce back by the end.

    The damage is all cosmetic.

    Plus a cracked windshield and busted out rear-view mirror.

    God I love these trucks.

    Going to put wheels on the shell roof when you get it all fixed up? They are pretty amazing if that was my old 97 I probably would have just put glass in it and drive it till it quit! Good deal on getting it started big mess under the hood?
