I just wanted to share I contacted Camburg about ordering a set of their ball joint style upper control arms and was notified that they have discontinued their current model. The new model will be released in a few weeks with Moog ball joints already installed and ball joint covers. The new models will be black instead of grey. Also I was told they will be $599

i am going with the light racing UCAs. I had the camburgs on my FJ and the stupid little covers kept popping off and they rusted pretty quick/easy

I have also considered the Light Racing. I prefer the looks of the Camburg and liked that I could use my OEM ball joints since my truck only has 20,000 miles on it but now that they come with Moog ball joints for an extra $200 they aren't as appealing.

Interesting. I have Camburg ball joint ucas with no cap and they are starting to rust. It did get annoying talking to camburg about the arms. They recommended oem ball joints, but Toyota only sold the uca/bj as one for $1100. They recommended not using moog because of tolerance issues. The stock bj is not difficult to remove from the stock uca. Shops didn't want to press out bc their Toyota adapters wouldn't fit. Found a press bit that worked just fine though. In the end it was a pretty big hassle.

I can see why camburg is changing them, but $599 is not that appealing of a price. I'd prob go uniball for that cost. But I do like my arms ;)

I ordered these yesterday for KayStrait at Camburg. I will post pics of them when I get them and install them.

We helped to pioneer the the use of the Camburg BJ UCAs using Moog Ball-Joints. They are a great option. You get basically all the benefits of a Tubular UCA without the squeeking noises that Uni-Balls are known for.

I think it will be a good product for me. I live in southern Ohio and we have nasty winters which would probably be hard on the uniballs. Camburgs look much better than Light Racing too!

I don't wheel at all but am going Icon up front and rear. These UCA's will be fine in the salty wintery mix we get up here? And are there bushings installed on the pivot joints as well?

Salt is hard on everything, but yes they would be a good option. Just spray them down with some HD Silicone Spray after install to help prevent rust and corrosion.

The bushings just push in by hand.

So are LR UCA's still the better option for up here then? And does it come with the bushings?

The Light Racing are in the same boat as far a corrosion goes. Yes, they include the bushings.

What did they do to make them work with the aftermarket ball joints, bore the cup out a little?

Can they be ordered from you? And it comes to 568.00 with covers in the cart. So I don't know where the 599.99 comes from

The truck is still on the stand so no this is not the angle that the ball joints are normally at.

The control arms I got came with them.

I got the older arms that are made for the stock ball joints. I pressed some slightly used ball joints out of some stock arms tonight after work and took some measurements for anyone that might be interested. The stock ball joints measured in at 1.7215 inches with some dial calipers, and I measured some raybestos ball joints that came in at 1.7345 inches. The holes in the arms measured in at 1.718 inches. So I pressed the stockers into the arms. When/if these wear out I might have a machine shop bore out the holes a bit to accept aftermarket.

The whole process was easier than I expected. Used a press we have at work for bending weld coupons. I just had to get creative and make my own implements. Luckily we have a ton of different sized pipe kicking around and that made it pretty easy.
