I tried a search and have looked at plenty of pics online but can't find anything conclusive. Are fenders, hood, bumpers, etc. all interchangeable for 1st gen 2wd Tacomas? My son was in a fender bender this morning  so we are searching for parts. His is an '02 and I've found fenders off a '99. Thanks in advance

No, not all are compatible. There are different changes through the years that make it at the least a challenge. But technically you COULD get a grill, hood, and fenders from a 2002 and modify them to a 99.

Is there a resource to tell? Honestly, looking at pics online, I can't tell a difference in the fenders. The fenders I found are '99 and his is '02

If you want to swap between years you have to get everything 98-00 had different hoods, fenders, and grilles then 01-04s it can be converted but why not just stick with what years he has

The truck in my sig is a 2004. The fenders and hood and grill are a 1998.The one difference I found was the marker lights. The marker lights in a 1998 fender will fit into a 2004 fender, but not the other way around. There was a small issue with getting the marker light screw to mate up with the inner fender screw hole, but nothing a bit of ingenuity couldn't cure.

I did put a core support from a 1998 in the 2004, so this helped quite a bit.

Fenders should be about the same price just a matter of finding the donor!

If I lived in SoCal, I would have no issue using aftermarket panels and hood. The price is pretty cheap for new...and the fit is pretty good these days.

That's the tough part. Wheels and tires all day long, parts, not so much

There is a source. Car-part.com. Very accurate. Search what you need and itll say what car your matching parts are off of. In the case of a 2002 fender with flare its popping up with trucks ranging from 2001-2004. A 1999 wont fit.

I've bought alot of parts that I found on there. Check it out, shouldn't be too difficult.

Wrecking yards are specifically after Tacomas like this because they are sought after. You'll have a much better chance of getting parts from a yard over CL.

    Good luck

Lucky Update: insurance co is going after the other driver. Worst case is $500 deductible!
