Does anyone NOT care about mpg?

I have driven a truck since 1977, and wonder why I even care about the mpg...I love my Tacoma, wouldn't not have a truck, don't like any other trucks, so why do I even care what mileage it gets? I can afford to fill it up when it's low, so I just keep wondering why I take the time to keep track of it, and keep posting it on fuelly...it gets better mpg than any other truck (or Jeep) I've ever owned, so why keep track of it...?

Does anyone just drive their Tacoma and just fill it up when it needs it, and doesn't care that it's not getting 25 mpg?

There are a TON of mileage threads, and mpg seems to be a huge deal with those looking at the 2016.

 

mine gets 15-17 mpg no matter how I seem to drive and thats fine.

I had am 89 4x4 single cab gutless 22re toyota that got the same mileage and it didnt bother me much

 

Not this guy. I traded my more fuel efficient full size for my taco, as long as your happy with what you drive then who cares?.

 

It is what it is! If you like these trucks and you mod them then don't complain about mpg.

 

Mostly no, I don't care what my Tacoma gets. When the tank gets empty I fill it up.

Now, I don't drive my MACH I that got 6 mpg anymore. I would care about that.

 

Not a care in the world. It gets me where I want to go, that's enough for me.

 

It's been on the back of my mind a lot and was looking hard at the 2016 when it came out. I have driven numerous trucks and was planning on getting a Tacoma last May. Ended up buying a new Jeep Cherokee for the gas mileage and miss a truck. I get the 25+ mpg but miss the convenience of a truck.

After the debut of the 2016 I decided to get a 2015. Yeah, the 16 will probably get better mpg, that's a given - but the 3-5k minimum you'll pay extra for it doesn't justify the few mpgs it'll get over the 15. At least for me with the amount of driving and average ownership I do.

I found out the expensive way the grass isn't always greener.

 

You're probably better off not even thinking about it honestly, unless the annual fuel cost is eating into your money. If you make enough it doesn't matter. But even if I made a ton, I would still be conscious of how much fuel I'm using because I find it entertaining to see how much I can get. Also, some drops or increases in MPG can be made at no cost so why not make sure you're not wasting any?

 

I don't think MPG is a very big reason to buy another truck, it's just a few hundred annually at best. If I liked truck A and B are nearly identical but B gets 2 less MPG and has more comfortable seats, I'm getting truck B.

Or getting truck A and buying new seats

 

I've never really cared about MPG. My previous truck, Ford F150, got around 12 MPG, but that didn't stop me from hammering the pedal when I wanted to. And when it got empty, I filled 'er up. No big deal.

Same with my new Tacoma. MPG had nothing to do with my decision to buy it and nothing to do with how I drive it. If anything, I only want to keep track of MPG over the long run to see if there's a bigger problem. Other than that, I didn't give a crap.

 

I don't care at all about MPG. When I need gas, I buy gas. MPG has ZERO bearing on what vehicle I will buy.

 

I care that it stays consistent, not that it is XX high. My previous vehicle, when brand new, easily got 21-22 MPG on highway and at least 18 or 19 combined. Once it hit 150K miles, I was lucky to get 15MPG on a good week. I threw so much money at it trying to get the numbers back to at least 18, but I eventually got frustrated and sold it.

 

I drive this truck because I like it.
As Mike said, I track MPG's for mechanical purposes, not to be a griping cheap fuck.
I laugh at assholes who live their little lives, depriving themselves to have a "someday", only to die, leave their old lady rich, who promptly stars fucking the gardener.

 

I do my weekly commute on two wheels so the taco is only going to be used as a grocery getter/weekend warrior. Gas mileage was last on my priority list...bluetooth was more important.

 

If I really cared about MPG I would have bought a prius. People that fret over a few MPGs difference are the same ones that will go out of their way to get gas $0.05 per gallon less at different gas station while buring up more in gas than they would have saved paying a nickel per gallon more.

15k miles/ year

How much would you save if you got 30mpg vs 18mpg?

30mpg = $1,250
18mpg = $2,083

Difference $833/year

Screw that. You can keep yo' Civic

 

Oh that's right. You guys aren't concerned about MPGs. You're more worried about KPLs (Kilometers Per Liter).

 

I don't care about mileage on my tacoma, never have. I do care however that my 97 Silverado gets (or got when it was working) 12mpg, it adds up fast.
