a turbo 3.5 or 3.0 would be pretty badass in a tacoma if they could keep it as reliable as the current 4.0

I drive it. When it's low, I fill it. That's about as much as I care about it.

I get gas at Costco, which is the best price per gallon locally ($2.25 right now), plus I use my Amex and get 1% back. I pay it off every month, so no interest accrues and I typically get about $150 back every year from gas purchases.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I have the same problem, no idea why. Maybe it's just a habit to check it. Best I've ever gotten on winter gas with my 3.4 is 19 mpg. Most times it's between 12 and 17.

I loosely keep track and get around 16 to 18 mpg avg depending on the season and where I'm going.

I do track yearly fuel costs. Last year I poured $3500+ US into the tank. I don't drive it like a race car in order to save wear on tires, save a little fuel and for safety. I also put on a lot of miles in 2nd and 3rd gear driving in the mountains.

Capability is way more important than mpg for me.

I used to care when my truck was stock I got about 20mpg. Now with my lift and duratracs, and CAI, I can get 16/17 if I drive like a grandma, but that really isnt fun. So I average 14mpg. Single digit weather and i let the truck warm up. I have an ultragauge, I let the engine get to at least 100 before I go anywhere.

If I were getting single digits, it might start to get expensive. The 13-19 range that I always stay within depending on winter/summer and type of driving is absolutely fine with me.

I have no interest whatsoever in driving a small fuel efficient car.

I get about 13 with 35's 3 in lift and armor. My mustang got about 14 with supercharger, wheels, and gears. I drove the mustang when gas prices were over 4.00 a gallon. I will drive the truck when they are over 4.00 a gallon again.

I traded off a Camry that was getting 30+ easy.

Now my Taco does anywhere from 17 to 20. I love this stupid truck, LOVE it. I actually smile when I see it in the parking lot, and smile when I drive it. The Camry was a great car, ran good, rode good, and was reliable but it wasn't what I wanted. I traded off a full size truck because 10MPG and my large amount of driving was hurting bad.

Saying that I do CARE about gas use, but it's not make or break for me.

MPG doesn't bother me as much as miles per tank. When you put 4-500 miles a week on a truck it would be nice to get 400+ miles a tank. I was hoping to get over 350 when I bought my '14. It's still not broken in yet because I have less then 1800 miles on it but I don't get even close to 350. Most of my miles go on my '04. I don't know what the MPG on either one is.
