Can anyone tell me what the text button

What is the deal with the TEXT button on the factory radio....Read the manuel 6 times...still didnt get it.

 

Hey man the text button on the stereo is for CDs or radio stations that are encrypted with track or station information. So if you have a CD usually from a large recording label it will show up when you hit the text button instead of just seeing track time.

have you ever gotten anything from a radio station?

 

Radio,Data, Service... originally intended for traffic and other emergencies like amber alerts. Mostly used for radio station info, artist and track name. the radio station imbeds an info tag on the RF signal and your receiver converts to plain text. If and when you listen to radio the station may have RDS and when u push button will display said info...

If you burn a disc of MP3s it will be useful.

 

Mine has it, never got it to actually work though. I presumed that was it's purpose but... eh. The radio works, doesn't skip, doesn't cut out... I'm way ahead of most

 

Also, if you have XM or Sirius, repeatedly hitting the text button scrolls between channel #, station ID, song title and artist.

 

Works with the Ipod hook-up too. Shows artist, song title...times etc etc.

 

Mine works with the XM, but not the RDS on FM. I had that in my old car and loved it.

 

I never used it til I put in the PA15-TOY, now it's handy, tells the song and zinger.

 

Is there a way to have the screen constantly show text or do you have to just keep hitting the button over and over?

 

When playing MP3's on a CD I toggle the text button till it shows the name of the directory I'm in. Leaving it there, it continues to do that for the whole CD.

 

Depends on which ipod hook up you have - they don't all do it.
My ipod2car PXDP doesn't show sqaut!
