Told the wife this would be my last vehicle. 55 years old, Tacoma should last 20 years, I'll trade it in on a wheelchair......unless she dies first.

Tell them they can drive your "antique" truck...and that it has to age for a while until it's ready for them to drive it. :D

I always thought I would keep my '94 from high school, but frame rot forced me to sell it. So I bought a 2015 just like it - I baby this truck and hope to keep it for the long haul. Here they were together for a short time before I sold the Pickup:

Ha ha, keeping 2Gen as long as Toyota replaces the frame. Otherwise I will be driving F150 or Titan XD.

I don't understand how anyone can say yea or nea on any of this stuff yet. There's still so much speculation around the 3rd Gen, what I got out of their announcement was "It will look different, and have a motor in it that may or may not suck plus some frilly creature comforts for your wife or girlfriend."

Who the heck makes a 'fuck yeah ima buy that' decision based on such a mysterious announcement?

I'm not gonna say that only a dumbass would do such a thing... but I will say that I try not to be a dumbass most days.

I'll keep mine, and probably upgrade to a Tundra in the next few years if they raise the fuel economy to be on par with other full size trucks.

cheese-ow-weese this things only 8 years old with 125k miles, just a baby. My last one had 175k before giving it to my son and he drove it through college until he rear-ended his girlfriend (oops), and then we just pulled out the bumper, replaced the grill and radiator and sold it. I think there's' something fundamentally American about driving a vehicle 10+ yrs.

Mine is paid off, so I'll be keeping it for at least a couple more years. Otherwise, it wouldn't have made sense financing it. Has nothing to do with wanting a 3rd gen. Of course I'd like a new vehicle...it's just not a smart decision.

    Pretty easy actually.

The 2016 is just a slight improvement. Nothing ground breaking is coming out. No V8s, Turbos or Diesels. No Hybrids. Transmissions and running gear are the same, can and bed look exactly the same - just re-skinned. Interior is an update, but let's be honest, it's still no Range Rover.

The 4-cylinder will be the same. The 3.5 promises more power. Well no shit, this is 2015. The standard 3.4-3.8L V6 now makes 300hp. With the running gear remaining he same we're relying solely on the engine for an economy improvement. 2mpg?

So it's an improvement not a change. So unless you just have to have the newest toy or are already in the market - then there is no reason to move on it.

I have a mint condition 2005. A 2016 is not a $30,000 improvement. Maybe if it had full a full independent suspension system tied to a LR style airbag setup with adaptive terrain management....

Long story short, the truck is just a half hearted punt and Toyota is banking on the GM twins not having enough appeal to lure the devoted away.

I just got a new frame, brake lines, rear leaf springs, shocks on all 4 corners, front springs, lower control arms. I'm getting new wheels and tires in a few months. I think I'm keeping it, especially since I don't have a payment right now. I'd LOVE a 2016 for all the new features, and moonroof, but I'll wait.

    Ah Joys of frame replacement.
I see it similar way, if Toyota replaces my frame and does it right, I will come back for another Toyota vehicle.(not 2016 unless there is V8 as an option) If they Fk it up, I will never buy Toyota again. Ever....
I am tired dealing with rust through frames. Mexicans in front of home depot could paint frame better than Toyota.

I'm keeping mine. I have a 2015 and when I heard about the '16 coming out and being a whole new redesign I was like aw crap, but then I saw it and didn't like the exterior at all. I love the 2nd gen body design, especially the 2012+ models. Plus there's no point in going through the process of buying another vehicle already when I've only had this on for 3 months and I paid it off already. Gonna keep it for a longgggg time.

I'm keeping my '13 for a couple years but I'm really interested to see a redesign of the Tacoma in a couple years as well as see how the Colorado fairs. Might be ready for a Silverado or Tundra in a couple years as well, just have to see how it works out.
