Ok, just purchased my first tacoma (2015 dclb sr5). This forum is a wealth of info albeit way over my head. My first mod is going to be to upgrade stock 16" steel wheels. I want 17" trd gray six spokes. I see plenty for sale online. Is this just a simple swap? What do I need to purchase additionally? I plan on waiting till maybe I need new tires so I have time. I want to purchase everything I need over the next year. I know , I know its been asked before, but I need it dumbed down for me. You have to start somewhere right? Anyways thanks for bearing with me.

Welcome to TW!! Yes the 17" sport alloys will swap no issues.
Lot of sets for sale and great deals from members on TW.
Also by the time you're ready to purchase you'll change your mind 100x and ...

You may have to deal with the TPMS issue. The 16" steel rims uses a different TPMS than the alloy rims. You will also have to buy different lug nuts for the alloy rims - the one used on the steel rims will not work.

I am thinking of doing the same, but with the 16" OR alloy rims. Good luck.

    Some stuff...
That's the truth, been living that hell for a few months now myself.:( SCS SR8 are sexy as hell but I'm still leaning towards the ProComp 7032.

OP - Welcome! TONS of options when it comes to tire/wheel combos. TRDs are good but unless you're 100% set on them, do some browsing of rigs with various setups (SCS & Fuel are very popular here, ProComp, Mickey Toms, etc.) and be prepared to go through "decision hell" like many other have. Good luck and keep us posted! :)

Keep an eye out on Craigslist for your area. A lot of people immediately buy aftermarket and sell their stock wheels
