Firm Ride of New Tacoma

I picked up a 2010 tacoma sport crewcab long bed. It's completely stock at this point. The ride is pretty harsh. Does anybody have input on how to make the tacoma ride more plush? Can I expect the suspension break in? Thanks.

 

not sure...but i believe ive heard that the long beds have a firmer ride than the short beds...

 

I have the 2008 with the TRD Off Road, have 25k miles on it and the ride is still harsh although its not as stiff as it used to be. You'll feel every pot hole and speed bump for a while...

 

I will say its definately firm. Had my truck for about 3 weeks, much firmer than the full size cars I came from. But for its capabilties I can deal with the firm ride. I came from the SWB Jeep world too, they ride pretty poorly and harsh for sure. We used to run OME Old Man Emu shocks and that would dramatically improve road manners.

I see that OME is available for Tacomas, is the same adage true for Tacos? That they would improve ride quality? I would imagine they would be valved softer that the stock blistiens?

 

Just sell the truck- there is nothing worth spending money on to perhaps create a plush ride. Stock its probably as plush as it gets.

 

the longbed has a softer ride than the short bed. I though my stock ride was stiff as heck also - but after throwing on my toytec ultimate lift kit its as smooth as butter. Should have come stock like this.

ToyTec - stiffer - rides like a truck.

A truck is a truck - of course it's going to ride stiff.

 

are you on stock tires /wheels ? I'm on 285/75/16's and the ride is MUCH smoother than stock - definitley less bumpy on small bumps

 

The factory shit suspension with the shit 245 dunny was plush that shit was like driving on marshmallows it pitch a rolled every corner rode like a grandpa car. Don't get 5100's if you don't like stiff

Yup - unfortunately - still on stock tires and wheels on my '09 DC LB - P265/65R/17, after my ToyTec ULK.

Ride was smoother when stock (car ride), but I prefer the slightly stiffer ride after the ToyTec lift.

What I know now is, after the TT ULK, when I hit a few bumps, at any speed, the suspension is, like, yeah, bring it and give me some more.

I like that. A LOT.

 

I just went from an I30 Infinity to a 2010 Tacoma and the ride seems a bit stiff. Any recommendations to smooth it out a little would be appreciated.

 

i have the same truck just 3 years younger, and its bumpy too but when i stick 2 dirtbikes in the back it seems to mellow out and ride super super well
