Excellent write up Peter, wish I had something like this when I did my first retro! I basically used pictures from others to get and idea and through trial and error I ended up with a decent first set lol. Now that I'm on my second complete retro I've perfected the install but have pinpointed a couple flaws that will ruin your day.

As far as Anzo lights go, forget about dependability on their internal plastics for headlight adjustment and the ball joint (if you decide to mob and go out wheeling frequently). The plastic adjustment screws are a joke when it comes to the fine tune adjustments to get output correct. I wish I had a stock set of headlights looking back, since I used my original stocks for the first retro and all worked fine. I'm currently in the process of ordering some Depo headlights from eBay and plan to use their housings instead of anzos, simply switching out the bowls with projectors installed.

I read back to page 10 in here and no one seems to have had this problem, but I know others have mentioned it before. Otherwise I'll keep an eye on this thread, retrofitting is certainly one of the most rewarding mods when you finish

    Hey there!

One of my first customers used Anzo, now I ONLY use TYC NSF/CAPA Certified lights. I am pretty sure TYC makes our OEM ones because they look exactly the same in every way.

OEM ones have plastic adjustment nuts and metal screws just like the TYC Certified ones. There's no point of putting a nice retrofit in a crappy headlight, especially when the good ones are only a few bucks more!

Damn now I'm wishing I didn't buy the Depo headlights the other day, not that they're bad, I've had success with them in the past. You have a link to the ones you buy, out of curiosity?

Quick question to anyone who can answer.

Can you run all of you LEDs (2halos and a 8inch ribbon strip) to one beefier resistor. I plan on having each Lights LEDs switched through a relay and fused separately from normal light switch.

Your insight will be valued. Thanks all.

Id imagine so as along as the resistor was the right size and could supply all the components with the right amounts of voltage

A big thank you to the OP. Would never have thought of doing the Mini H1 retrofit without seeing this tutorial. Made things very simple. I did red mini gatling shrouds, and satin black reflector bowls (with clear coat to give an in between gloss and matte look). RGB halos with a single thread of picture hanging wire painted white, so you can barely even see the wire when looking at them up close.

Also VLED switchback for turn signals/ DZLs, however I ordered the wrong 3157 adapter base (non CK), does anyone know where I could get a set of these? VLED wants me to purchase another one (@$10 + $25 shipping to canada which seems ridiculous to me) and therefore I am running stock amber DRLs for now. T10 White LED side markers are going to be my next purchase through TRS.

    More pictures available at request.

Good job! I do need to update this with the information on the Mini D2s. It's a little more expensive but definitely just as easy to install and a better projector.

does anybody have a tip for getting the outer part of the reflective bowl out? the inner side pops right off. a write up said to pry the tabs inward while putting some pressure on the bowl but the tabs don't seem to budge

Dane, I'll try that. And I appreciate it but you don't need to look. I think I'm just going to paint the shield

The part I do remember painting was the part of the projector you can see thru the lens.
