Since I put new tires on my truck (Mastercraft AXT's), my wife always wants to take it when it is bad weather and we have to take the family somewhere. She is a super driver (last accident she had was getting hit by a cop car!!) but she still feels safer in the truck...doesn't like to drive it because it is "too big" for her...just means I get to drive...:D

True, but if I use nylons to contain the salt I should be okay right?

No. The salt dissolves from the stocking and could potentially be in the water leaking inside the house. It's not as bad as if you were using sodium chloride, but salt in general speeds up corrosion on exposed metal. In short, you need to get rid of the ice dams so you need to use the calcium chloride to do so. Just be mindful of where the leaks happened in the house and be sure to clean them up and check any nearby pipes and electrical. I wasn't trying to scare you from using it, but there are some things you should know before putting salt on the roof.

That's just it, I know there's electrical near there. No pipes though..don't even get me started on that shitshow..

I remember reading that salt will eat away at the shingles over time.

I hear you. I just spent an hour and a half the other night scraping ice off the inside of my wall under the chimney where it comes into the house by the furnace. Found the ice dam and got rid of it, now I am just waiting for the ice to melt the rest of the way in the house....awesome...:frusty:

Unless I get up on my roof I've got no prayer of getting rid of my ice dams. I was up on the addition but that's as far as I'll go. I do however have water melting between my siding and underlayment and dripping down to the sill plate in the basement. :(

Nice, i love bagged trucks, especially gm squarebodies, not a fan of suvs being lowered, but at least that 4runner looks clean. Must of taken a lot of fab work to get it to lay frame.

Yeah. I threw that together real quick to get an idea.

I think that looks badass. The bumper will have plate over the winch
