6.8v for all cells on a 3S?? That would be really bad. Alarms can be setup in a few places. Lots of flight controllers will take a buzzer you can plug in, then you set the voltage alarm on the flight controller. Most flight controllers also support voltage reporting through telemetry. It looks like the cc3d does not work with frsky, but you might want to double check. Might have to add another module :( this would allow you monitor the voltage per cell right on the Taranis and setup alarms there as well. If you don't want to get more equipment what you could do is fully charge a battery. Fly your quad hard for a couple of minutes and land. Use a voltage checker to see what the power per cell is. Keep doing this until you get to the 3.8 or 3.7 volts per cell. Record how many minutes that took. Now you can create a timer alarm in your Taranis to match that amount of time. It isn't glamorous, but it works!
If you disconnect the FPV gear does it arm properly? What software are you using to configure the cc3d?

the gf bought me a phantom when it went on sale on slickdeals. this was a bittersweet gift because even though I've been wanting one forever, between the taco and my motorcycle, I don't need another hobby to throw my money at.

On a brighter note, I just installed a gimbal and bought a bunch of extra batteries so I'll be having some fun this weekend. Boy does a gimbal make a night and day difference.

Next will be FPV, I need to keep myself from buying the inspire for as long as possible.

A full 3S battery is 12.6V, a dead one (to me) is 11.1V

Fantastic more stuff to put on such a tiny frame...:annoyed: I'll have to see what I can do with the CC3D and Taranis. I'm using the OpenPilot program, is there other ways to program the board? A friend sugested getting an OSD and have it monitor the battery levels, sounds just as good if I'll be wearing the goggles.

I've tried disconnecting the FPV gear but not completely removing it from the frame. The only place that it plugs into the system is the balance lead from the battery. I've tried arming it while that isn't plugged in but with no success.

Hmm, I'm not familiar with OpenPilot, but there should be a section to see how inputs are responding. I'd look there and make sure your controls are being seen by the CC3D. Oh of course, OSD would also do the trick for monitoring the battery.

There are other options, I believe the CC3D can use Cleanflight. Might be worth a look. I just installed it on my Naze32 and I like it so far.

Del you wouldn't happen to know how to pair an Aurora 9 transmitter with an IdeaFly Apollo would you? Or know anyone that's in the market for an Aurora 9 with 2200 batteries and original box?
