I am looking into adding a lock to my tailgate on my new 2010 Tacoma. Have anybody do it yet? What are the results? Does it affects the camera view or sealing ?

I am testing one for Pop N Lock and it's sweet. You keep all your hardware and place an actuator inside the tailgate that hooks up to your clicker. Sweet! Locks and unlocks with your doors. Doesn't affect the camera at all!

I have the 5300 (one with the key hole) and love! Never affected the camera angle or anything. I would recommend it

Different pop & lock. This is for the 5300. Title says "POP & Lock 5300 with Back up camera" not the 8520 which is the link you provided

After a couple of months, my Pop N Lock stopped working. It would still make a noise but wouldn't lock the gate. So I opened the tailgate open and did some lubing.... Packed as much white lube in there as I could get (behind and front). I also rolled up some closed cell foam and put it behind the unit to keep it from TWANGing. Every thing seems to be working fine now (still a bit noisy for my liking but all-in-all, I am still pretty satisfied. I guess if I would like to see anything it would be some type of nylon bushing or a nylon button in each of the guides to limit the actuator noise.

Here's a video post lube job.

I'm glad I went with the 5300, seems to be a much more reliable lock

I have 2010 Tacoma wich DOE NOT have the back up camera, so my local shop ordered the 5200 for me. This modle says 2005 and up.

I can find no way possible for this model to work with my stock, non camera equiped tailgate.

I see that the gate IS wired fro the camera, even though there isn't one there.

Does anyone know which would be the propper model for my Tacoma?

The one I installed is a manual one, half an hour to put it in, works great! It moves the camera to the other side from where it is now, no big deal.

Did anyone notice that the camera housing of P&L is on the left side of the latch(facing the lock) instead of the right? It still doesn't change the camera view though.
