    We get cold snaps like this but rarely are they for longer than a day or two.
    We've had 6 days or more with temps below 20* and that's when shit starts to break.
    For Philly the water mains are a real problem. The aging infrastructure can't handle the stresses of the low temps for very long.

    It's messy for sure.

    Yeah...she'd get to her office and her answering machine (no voice mail back then ;) ) was loaded with messages of pissed off people complaining that their rental car wouldn't start and what sort of shitty cars was she renting out....yada, yada. Ummm...its -30 out. What the hell do you think is going to happen to the car, oil, fuel...?!?!?

    When she was doing that job was one of the few years that I remember school actually closing due to cold. And I think the rule at that time was it had to be a HIGH of -25, no wind chill. They made us go to school at any more than that but maybe cancelled recess if it was -15.

    They delay the school openings down here when it's cold. Parents are too stoopid to dress their kids warm enough.

    Ex loaned our blazer to one of his co-workers whose wife was pregnant, because the heater wasn't working in their jeep :rolleyes:. He ran our blazer into a ditch, froze the battery twice and wanted us to thaw it out and he was slacking on fixing his heater, since he liked the blazer. I didn't mind the no heat, but that jeep stunk - no power steering and not being used to it, :anonymous: was tough to drive. After he'd had the parts a week, made the ex get our blazer back, since he wasn't motivated to fix the jeep. He fixed his jeep quick after that.

    Was 38*F and sunny today. Mitch, BIL (Kristi's brother), and I went to shooting range. 20* now (2AM) and going back up into 30s today. :crazy:

    Me thinks the guy was an idiot, or slug, or both ... I can't stand the don't know any better from a military member on that kind of stuff. But that's just me. :notsure:
