I was never that low, but my first car, a 1990 Honda Accord wouldn't go on a lift without removing the front bumper. The car itself wasn't all that low (although a low profile jack wouldn't fit under it w/o going up on boards) but I had a very low chin spoiler on it. I got REALLY got at driving it though and knew how to avoid all the trouble areas.

I miss that car, although time has lessened many of the things about it that drove me nuts. It was in fantastic shape by the time I went through it, maybe the only 1990 Accord in MA in 2007 with zero body rust.

    Not to mention SoCal.

Personally, I like my antiques to look as close to original as possible.
Although, some of the restomods I've seen recently look pretty sharp. I've just never really cared for the bellydragger look.

I completely agree, I would rather have a completely orginal restored car versus a restomod.
Also, did you ever go look at that 60's Dodge truck, Noel?

Still nothing finalized on AZ, I think it will happen, but nothing in writing yet.

It wont be permanent move. Most likely AZ for 2-4yrs, then move again to either Salt Lake, Atlanta, Tempe or RI.

That's sodium chloride (rock salt, or table salt) that will eat away your shingles. Sodium chloride should not be used on your roof for that very reason. If you need to melt ice off the roof, use calcium chloride instead. It's not as harsh on the shingles and is still an aggressive ice melter.

I did. It's a 1969 D100 with a 318 in front of an A833 4 speed. The motor's the original (rebuilt; bored .030 over w/a mild cam), but the original 3-speed transmission was replaced with an A833 4-speed back in the 70's and is long-gone. Everything else on it is original, but it does need some stuff. It needs to have one of the front cab mounts cut out and a replacement welded in (rust) and there's a couple of spots of paint bubbling on the body. Plus it needs a new windshield gasket, new dash pad, and the seat could probably use a recover at some point.

Runs and drives great, though. The body on it is amazingly solid for a truck that's been in Maine for 45 years, and the frame looks like it did the day the truck rolled off the assembly line. But I used the problems that it does have to talk him down to $3700. I'm going to stop by and pay him on Saturday and see about getting it home on the next decent day we get. :D

I am headed to Home Depot tonight to get some pressure treated 2X4s. Need to build a ladder to get up on my roof to chip away at the ice dams tomorrow.

Figure for $30 and about an hour of my time, I could build a 12' ladder instead of spending $200 on one that will never get much use. Luckily if I fall, I have about 6' of padding to land in.

Figure I will chip out as much as I can tomorrow, then throw some calcium chloride in the gutters and let it work its magic.

Low range off-road has free shipping on all ARB products.

I think there is a land cruiser shop in nh that sells arb /ome stuff too. Low range off-road is probably you're best bet though, and I think pretty much everything on the site is 5-10% off right now too. I would call them and see if they are in stock though, if not you might be waiting a long time to get them due to the dockworkers strike out west

I think I got mine from 4 wheel parts . Shipping was around $100 iirc .
I just ordered new bushings the other day . They lasted about 2 years . Waiting for it to warm up to swap them out . Great leaf pack IMO .

    Thanks!

I'm pretty excited. I had a '73 Mercedes (pics below) that I pulled out of a slowly collapsing shed and fixed up back in my early 20's that the GF and I used to take to car shows (around here you can usually get free admission when you show up in a classic and put it on display :D) and do parades with, but I sold it when we started saving up for a down payment on our first house.

I'm looking forward to having a classic again. :D

Make sure you notch your rails, predrill your rungs, and use heavy-gauge screws and not nails.
