In that case I knew I was using my back which is a no-no, so I backed down on the weight. In fairness the past couple of weeks I've been busting my butt moving snow, you have probably heard how bad MA got nailed with the stuff.

Bah, every day is leg day for me haha. Treadmill, I try to do 40 squats most every day with my kettlebell (15lbs)..then leg lifts and curls.

As with upper body, I would definitely have rest days between leg days.

That's not an aspect; that's a law...kinda like curling in the squat rack

Just joking..I don't do runnng or jogging on the treadmill, and just the lift and curl on legs are the consistent ones.

im amazed you were walking around with that thing. Bruises without impact are pretty good indicators of a muscle shitting itself

Lurked in here a couple times...have a question on bench press tips from you guys.

Back story...Jan 1. Begin first ever bulk since losing a lot of weight and simultaneously getting my feet wet with lifting during 2014. Diet is in check. 400 cal above maintenance is my sweet spot and has been successful for gaining 1lb a week. Doing this routine here. All the compound lifts in this routine (bench, ohp, row, squat) I've been able to progress 5lb per week without any trouble at all. Bench is at 185x5, ohp 115x5, row 170x5 and squat 265x5. Not big numbers by any means, but I'm definitely seeing some size pack on.

My chest has always been my weakest muscle. This week for both my chest days I just could not get 190 for more than 4 reps on the last two sets, but 185 seemed to go up so easy last week. Today I ended with a deload set of 165x10 to give it a quick blast at the end, because I felt like it would compensate for the lack of reps on my previous sets.

Anyone have any tips for busting through my struggle with BP progression?

progression isn't linear, you aren't going to keep adding 5lbs a week up to a 500lb bench- not hitting the 5lbs one week means you've hit your noob gains plateau and now you really gotta start working :)

You can work in accessory lifts to help with the bench. pec flies, heavier OHPs, weighted dips, incline/decline bb benching, maybe more tri work

eat more, sleep more, go for heavy/low reps

    welcome to the grind :D

Yea I think I was just super optimistic about getting to 225 before that happened. Once I started struggling with 190 it was kinda discouraging. I'll just have to keep hitting it. I've got all of those accessory lifts in the mix, so we'll see if they lend a hand.

This grind is slowly starting to take over my life

Switch to dumbell BP instead of barbell for a few weeks, that helped me.

That ran across my mind. Sticking with low reps/heavy weight or switch it up to higher reps/lower weight?

Get ready to get your ass kicked, a group of friends and I go like twice a month to a trampoline park. It's a ton of fun but seriously kicked my ass. My legs and core were sore the next two days lol
You said you do chest twice a week right ? I would do heavy/low reps the first day and higher reps/lower weight the second day
